Reputable broker offering CFD's for US

Ok, I see what happened now. I remember FXCM was offering hedging capabilities to US client through their UK subsidiary back in 2009. The CFTC put the kabosh on this in 2010 apparently and those clients had to move their account back to FXCM LLC so yes, FXCM is a non-starter. I so love the US...

Reputable broker offering CFD's for US

Are you allowed to trade CFDs with FXCM UK if you are a US citizen? I know they allow trading of FX if you move your account from US to UK but I don't know about CFDs. Has anyone traded any through them?

    IB and Amazon EC2 (Linux)

ICMP must be blocked from the outside. You can probably open up the firewall settings to allow but I don't know specifically which rules you need to modify. If you are using Windows Server 2008 you can go to Start / Administrative Tools / Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. There are a...

    IB and Amazon EC2 (Linux)

Check out Rackspace cloudservers also if you are still in the deciding phase. I found an article that seems to give them an edge on performance vs EC2. I don't know anything about Rackspace though and will stick with Amazon for now during this testing phase. I am more concerned with latency and...

    IB and Amazon EC2 (Linux)

cstfx has the idea. This is what I plan on using it for. Free up my local machines for development and backtesting and execute trades on the cloud. I'm impressed so far with EC2's latency. Looks to be about 2/3 less than what I am now getting through my ISP. One area I'm not impressed is CPU...

Stanford unfit for trial due to alcoholism: judge

I think it was more due to him being cracked in the skull by another inmate. "They found the 60-year-old was also depressed and incompetent to stand trial due to a brain injury he sustained during a 2009 jailhouse brawl, and recommended he be weaned off the drug"

    IB and Amazon EC2 (Linux)

I've been playing around with EC2 tonight and have a Windows and Ubuntu w/ X Windows up and running. The Windows instance was much easier to get working with TWS but Linux is doable once you know what you need to install. I started with a public AMI from Canonical running 32-bit 10.10 Maverick...

    IB and Amazon EC2 (Linux)

I'd be interested in knowing the costs as well if you don't mind sharing some specific numbers. As far as server vs desktop, I would imagine that you can do everything you need on Ubuntu desktop and it should run just fine. I run TWS on Ubuntu desktop and the performance is great. However, I...

    IB and Amazon EC2 (Linux)

You can remotely access Linux by creating a ssh session using password or public key authentication (best) and then tunnel vnc back to your computer. This way you can securely access the desktop of the computer you are managing with full access to the GUI and everything is running over an...

JFK's kickass speach. worth another look

I always liked his speech on the press and secrecy. Here is a portion, but well worth a listen also. Even more relevant today as it was in 1961. The ideals in this speech probably lead to his assassination :(. "The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a...

    I-pad

some reviewers say it only gets about 2-hours of continuous use battery life. I am with you though that Android tablets will eventually take over iPads once a few solid products hit the market. I am rather enjoying my cr-48 Chrome OS netbook that Google sent me to test. 6+ hours of use...

    Haley Approves Huge Salary Increases

"Fool me once... Shame on... Shame on you... If fooled, you can't get fooled again." George W. Bush apparently not. Haley followed a time tested tradition, tell 'em what they want to hear and then do the opposite once elected. Bush was a fiscal conservative too, before he was elected...

    IB TWS: slow!, overloaded?

Another performance enhancer is to run TWS and your charting application from a RAM disk. I use the one from a company called SuperSpeed http://www.superspeed.com/desktop/ramdisk.php. It works on XP, Vista and they have a 64-bit version for Windows 7 also. With some minor enhancements TWS should...

    IB TWS: slow!, overloaded?

check to see how much memory you have allocated to each TWS window. this is determined by the shortcut link used to start TWS. The parameter is -Xmx512M or something similar. The 512 is 512Mb of memory. Change to 768 or 1024 and see if that makes any difference.

    IB Midnight Disconnect

Here is what my log said from last night. Notice that the data farm connection says 'broken' for cusfuture while the others are reporting 'OK'. This is after the reset was completed and everything was supposed to be back up and running. Message from IB: Market data farm connection is...

    IB Midnight Disconnect

I (almost) never had this problem before upgrading past 906 late last year. I don't know if this is just coincidental or not but I've tried versions 906.9 and 908 and both have had this problem happen. Last week it happened 3 nights but this week only once. I'm curious what version most are...

Anyone has experience with DeepDiscountTrading.com ?

I never much minded about how a website looks as long as the company is good at what they do and have been in business long enough to be dependable. How many slick looking websites are out there are selling a ripoff service to would-be traders ? Plenty. Websites alone are not a good judge of...
