Westcoasters, What do you think of NYSE moving trading up 1 hour

The NYSE can kiss my ass....... In all seriousness, it won't affect me that much as I trade futures and more than half of my trades are in commodities. But it will make me upset if I have to be up and ready at 5:20. Then again, that's another reason to get our lazy asses up and ready for...

TT sues Refco for patent infringement

My understanding is the patent also covers single-input execution from that screen. So if you use a DoM type screen, you have to have some sort of confirmation input. In other words, a mouse click and a keystroke. The court already said double-clicking was a single command and thus not a...

    Trading Methods Revealed

It varies with market. I have a large binder with different statistics on various time frames for about a dozen markets. For instance, grains and meats work best with 30 min ORs, while indexes usually need 1.5 hours. The timeframe is the most discretionary part of the method. I may hold it...

    Trading Methods Revealed

I trade a bastardized version of Fisher's ACD system. I trade it over indexes (primarily, ER2, ES, NQ), meats, grains, and sometimes energies. I am looking to automate it and expand into equities as well. For those not familiar, it is a methodology based on the opening range. I have done a very...

    Trading Markets- $7500

Don't waste your money......I will sell you a similar system that makes an average of 3-5% on each trade. It will only cost you $7,450, a whole $50 cheaper. If you email me, I would be more than happy to show you four or five charts that are specifically chosen to "prove" my money machine...

    Exit methods for trend-traders

Hey Andy, You're ahead of me.....I have no clue how to program my microwave. Here's a breakout system with a parabolic stop for the exit. It is very rough, but it is not optimized and the values were arbitrarily chosen. It simply shows the basic use of a parabolic exit in a mechanical...

    Exit methods for trend-traders

Hey Andy, You have 2000i, right? If so, just pull up the code for the parabolic stop and write that into your system. Have it start the bar after your entry (I can't think of how to get it done on entry). I usually start it off 1-2 ATR away from entry price.

    trend following delusion shattered

Grob and Nickel, we appreciate that. Thank you. If this is something people want me to do (post a simple system) then I am willing to. I should also warn that the system would almost definately be on daily data. Another thought would be to post the Turtle system and monitor it in a thread...

    trend following delusion shattered

A voice of reason. Thank you for your post. Much has been written in this thread but little has been said (especially in the last 50-60 pages). Here is my offer: I will take a system from my "archives" that I have no real interest in trading and post backtested results here. I will post...

    trend following delusion shattered

I think we're just guilty of 128 pages of misinterpretations. This quote is not what I, or the numerous other posters have been arguing here for days; rather we have been arguing this idiotic idea of predicting movement with some jackass equation of |p1-p0| >= d. I disagree with your...

    trend following delusion shattered

Yeah, but they are just outliers. They probably didn't even know it (even though Eckhardt was an academic statistician). Just outliers. So was Tudor, Mark Fisher (range breakout trading with a trend component), Henry, and countless other huge money managers/traders. I don't recall too...

    trend following delusion shattered

Wow, I'm quite convinced you have no idea how trends form, and are in absolutely no place to comment on their existence and use. Here, read the Commitment of Traders reports. Commercial and fund traders are the ones who create the trends. Take soybeans, for instance. They (funds) were at...

    trend following delusion shattered

Bullshit. I would be happy to post the results from a trending system, but I'm not going to waste my time posting real-time trades. Also, many trend systems trade infrequently; this means long periods of no posted trades and tons of random flaming bullshit from people claiming trend following...

    trend following delusion shattered

This thread is really getting rediculous. First, the claim was made. It is opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs. The discussion started on an intellegent foot, with reputable people chiming in and actual literature being posted. Then this rediculous set of rules for proof was...

    ACD Discussion Forum

I have not been following your thread, but it sounds like you've got a good grasp on what the system is and isn't. Far too many people get a book like this and expect it to be a "turn-key" system. In fact, it never happens that way. This system, as I said before, is nothing special if taken...
