    IB Globex question, please

"Does IB hold the stops or do they push through the orders to Globex?" ie: when their system goes down and you put in stops when the system was up, are the orders held on the Globex thus working or are they held at IB and NOT working? Thanks in advance.

Okay, thanks for that info, but the question is more IB specific "Does IB hold the stops or do they push through the orders to Globex?"

IB users: time to take a break

Do any of you know the answer to the following????? IF I have a stop in before IB's quotes system goes down, is the stop held beyond IB or is the stop held by IB and thus not working if their system is down. I'm talking ER, ES, Globex stuff? Thanks in advance.

Yea, we trade between S1 and R1 all day. This is usual behavior for the few days preceeding a fed meeting. Just business as usual.

I know what you mean, but on the 5min chart, they really help me when COMBINED with pivot numbers. Everyone's brain is different, that's why it is very hard for people to follow a semi-descretionary style and get anything close to similar results.

When you get these diverges at an R1, R2, S1, S2 they have a very high probability of going your way for at least a few points.

Actually I was wondering why you don't use the previous days globex H/L WHEN your S/R level looks like the day session L/H? It may not even occur that often to notice (your S/R happens to be the day session L/H). btw, the 2 days before a fed meeting tend to be very narrow ranges....not...

I couldn't find it in a previous post, so I'll ask: Any reason why you don't use either the entire globex session or start your charts at around 6am est when volume starts to pick up? Friday's low was 1328 and S1 comes in at 1327.75. It seems like we need to at least break those levels to...

Summer can be a great time to do credit spreads. Wait for range expansion in the May/June time frame then put on your spreads for July and August, both put and call credit spreads. That way, you watch the "air" come out of the premiums and pocket the money without a ton of risk.

Yea, if you're a "break-out" trader it's important to see how your trading is working under conditions of low volatilty and high volatility. What happens to many "break-out" traders, is that they get discouraged during a period of low volatility and they give up. Of course, just when they...

I was going over a few things this morning and this caught my eye: 30 day average range for the ES is at 11.20, lowest since April 30 day average range for the ES during the last two weeks of June was in the 18 point area The good news???? Long periods of low volatility are followed...

I could be off here, but it looks like Avg Daily Volume this summer was: ES: >500,000 NQ: 200,000-250,000 ER: 200,00-250,000 YM: 150,000-200.000

Yes, using MD would be silly for the ER. I'm pretty sure that MD is only useful for the highest volume markets.

Overnight margin is around $3500 vs $4000 for the ES. Day margin is half. Volume is not even close to the ES, more in line with the YM. Go to the CME web site for average daily volume. I only trade 5 lots at a maximum, but on a day like Tuesday where you get 7.5 points, a 5 lot is fine...

For those of you who scalp for 1-2 points on ES and haven't looked at the ER, consider: ATR(10) ER=10 points or $1,000 ATR ES(10)=10 points or $500 To get a 1 point or $50 profit on the ES you need a 1.50 move (due to selling on the bid buying on the ask). To get a $50 profit on the...
