    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

8 fills, 7 winners, CAT was the only one that hurt today.... :) Most of the winners were small, between 5 and 9 cents per trade.

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

The low volatility. 8 fills, half long, half short. Overall decent green with only 2 losers.. Citi did move nicely off the open, can't complain about that one!

    notebook needs some speed

amilian, Excellent post with some great information! I wanted to add that JV16 Power Tools has a great temp file cleaner as well. I use this every couple of days, if I am using the computer a lot. It takes a bit of setup on your part to establish which temp files to clean out, but it's...

    Instant Messengers?

It loaded them from the accounts themselves. I did not have the lists on the computer. In Trillian Pro, I did the setup for each account, and it logged on to each one and downloaded the lists. I did have to rename most of them, as the email name is what's initially being used for the list.

    Instant Messengers?

Mark, Thanks for the useful information! I want to have a look at Odigo. I've been using Trillian Pro for quite sometime now, and it's been great. Yeah, it will work as an IRC client, but I rely pretty heavily on the highlighting, events, and scripting that many others offer. I wish...

    notebook needs some speed

I do, but what a pain in the butt.... Since it shares the same underlying structure as Win2K, I really don't expect much. I'm going through the hassle just to keep it on a common OS with the other three computers on the network. That way, I can reuse all my patches, and make the same...

    notebook needs some speed

Mark, Yes, this is impressive! I have a 266MHz Toshiba that I keep as a backup machine on my network, although I have to admit, I've never dared put my TS2k on it. It's great to hear that you've been successful running it! That laptop used to have Win98SE. I did a clean install of...

    Perpetual NYSE Specialist Abuse

uptik2000, This sounds *very* familiar. I see this several times a day, as I also trade the liquid NYSE stocks. I have noticed that this occurs mostly when I'm sending an order in response to something I see in the tape, rather than when I've been sitting in the book with an SSH order. So...

    Professional Trading Tour

I will say that I heard Darren speak to another group about two months ago, and I was very impressed. Although I had done a lot of pair trading previously, along with a lot of study and reading on the subject, I found his presentation to be very interesting and comprehensive with several ideas...

Pls Explain: 'Buy At the Bid' - 'Sell At the Ask'

Also, when you are buying at the bid, you are a much less aggressive buyer than one who is buying or "lifting" the offer. There is a chance that the market may not come in to your bidding price and will move up before you can establish a long position. It is certainly a tradeoff, one that...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

I'm finding that my better days are happening on those small to flat openings. My bands are not necessarily tight, I just have many stocks that I send orders on. Only those that open outside of a "normal" range should be the high probability trades. "Should" but not "always." It's really...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Only one here today too..... :( That's out of 95 stocks with fairly agressive envelopes. It turned out nicely though. WFC.

    Professional Trading Tour

ROFL!!! It'd be like an open mike show for ET'ers. We could probably get nearly all the ET members who aren't there to be online. Talk about a lively exchange! Maybe we'd have the world's largest realtime trading forum.... :D

    Professional Trading Tour

Don, This sounds like a great program! Will you do your radio show from there? Maybe a change of format for that weekend....put on all the ET'ers who show up and want to participate. Or maybe some of the featured speakers can answer some questions or give listeners their basic 5...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

I make the following statements based on empirical data over the last eight months. I send OPG orders on about 100 stocks every day. I have automated a method for sorting out and highlighting those stocks which are indicating outside of the orders that I've sent. So, each day, I can see...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Did anyone get a piece of the Healthcare stocks today? Talk about a sympathy play with CAH.... Opened down and just kept smakin' it. WLP cost me 60 cents today. OUCH! And that was a quick exit. It sold down lots further too. ATH did pretty much the same, although not as hard as WLP...

    anyone incorporating Keltner Channels

I completely agree with you on keeping the charts uncluttered, although I do have a Keltner on my index charts. My individual stock charts are clean and empty. Just price on there. (Intraday, short term trading.) I think of the Keltners on my chart like the lines on a sheet of writing...

    anyone incorporating Keltner Channels

John Bollinger recommends that you adjust the BB parameters so that it visually captures most of the price action. Experiment with this on charts of differing time bars and you'll see that the values can vary widely. I do the same with Keltners. Depending on how you are trading, or what you...

    anyone incorporating Keltner Channels

Also, the standard deviation is calculated from close to close. There's no consideration for the high and low of any given bar, just the closing price. Whereas, Keltners use average true range which compares the high, low, and previous close of each bar. Each has its advantages. Use...

    anyone incorporating Keltner Channels

I've used them for many years now. I guess it's what you get used to seeing on a chart, kind of a frame of reference. For me, it's Keltners. They are invaluable for me to put bounds on a market and see it's movement that much more clearly.
