    Daytrading article.. Nypost

years ago, i was told in college that markets are efficient. when i started trading people told me that it is gambling. when i scored on a certain day or for months straight, they saw, but refused to believe. read this article and ask how many who write for media know what's really going...

Can equity markets sustain itself amidst rising rates?

Bond yields are near historical lows, but rising. a 100 basis point rise on the 10 year would yield 5.4%, still low compared to historical means. Historically, have bull markets been able to survive in an environment where rates rise, and fed tighten?

lets all hold a vigil tonight

silk, seems like whenever you write up these kinds of posts, the markets get tradeable again soon after, well for a short while at least... keep them coming.

    Program Trading

this is true.. when the public is involved in the markets, it adds a dimension to market volatility. i don't mean to oversimplify, but what i see in the current markets, the lack of volatility and an illusion of efficient markets is the absense of public participation and emotion.. fear and...

    Program Trading

statistical arbitrage.. has been in existence for decades.. right, the idea is if this system picked up a gazillion pennies and nickels that nobody "cared" about, in the long run, it'd rack up sizeable $$$$.. kinda like picking up a gazillion pepsi cans and getting a nickel a piece. imho...

    Program Trading

but programs and algorithims trade off fixed patterns and criteria, until modified... these things can be easily predicted within a time period.. can be anticipated. what is much harder to predict is human's irrational behavior..

    prop firm dilemma

what is... "massive commissions"? as long as you cover cost of service and make money for firm by commission, there'd be no reason to ask you to leave. also, generating commissions does not always equate to churning. it is often a means to generating more profit. if you cannot do the...

    Are these rates any good???

most prop firms are paying out near 100% and offering deals that most of you might think is "ridiculous". same time, i would imagine that any prop firm does more volume than etrade, datek, or any other "retail" co. imho.

    Are these rates any good???

right, so the only difference between a guy getting 10 million in leverage with 5,000 cap and a retail guy getting 20,000 buying power is that one decided to study a few weeks to obtain this silly license.

    Are these rates any good???

well as most of you probably know, i think if you are non-licensed, you are considered retail and subject to 4:1 daytrading margin. i know of no retail firms offering 10 times leverage. off topic here, but i always wondered what it was about the series 7 that allowed props to give their...

    Are these rates any good???

my experience is that these deals are typically offered to experienced prop traders with track records, not to newbies.

    Are these rates any good???

it's no big secret. just about every prop firm is offering these types of deals and have been for quite some time. i've even heard of some offering down to 0.35 cents/share.. just need to be licensed.
