Crude over $60 will not last long

good point. there used to be this computer game back in the 80's called, M.U.L.E. by electronic arts. crude graphics, lots of character. it teaches basic concepts on supply and demand, something most analysts don't seem to understand.

    MY FIRST 1G Day

ever consider holding a base position and trading around it with the base at a deeper sell stop. ie buy 1000 shares, sell 500, but keep 500 as a base and trade around. you can satisfy your subconscious desire to take profits while also holding for bigger gains.

    Overnight Trading anyone?

btw it wasn't possible for me to do anything about strong uptrends beside prop daytrade them until now. i don't like to use my personal money to trade. it's aftertax money and the agencies don't give you enough break when you lose personal money.

    Overnight Trading anyone?

the superior entry point essentially gives me more cushion for the pushin. i see the trade from a completely different angle this way. sure, i've been burnt on occasion, but that's part of the game. i always evaluate risk to reward and have devised a basic formula to optimize what should be...

    Overnight Trading anyone?

july 21- july 22. it's all about entry points. for instance, i initiated oil stocks long at the close july 21st and overnighted into slb and hal earnings. it put me in a completely different perspective than if i was to start buying the morning of the 22nd.. i did add onto the position btw...

    Overnight Trading anyone?

For the first time in my five years trading, my overnight and 2-day strategy have surpassed my daytrading profits ytd and by a big margin. Other prop traders doing similar? I attribute this to s&p futures not gapping >3-4 points in either direction the following morning like it used to and a...

Can scaling/averaging down be a viable trading system?

what's more important is finding trades that tend not to be losers. that way, you don't need to average down.

Can scaling/averaging down be a viable trading system?

this all depends on situation. there is no rule whether or not you should average down except that losses in general are for losers. i tend to cut my losses at a certain point 90% of the time. on occasion i will hold one. but that is because i have observed something that tells me i should...

effect of oil stocks on crude price

btw that was a beautiful set up back early this year. crude tanks, take SPY size long, and short oil stocks. you limit systemic risk yet make on both sides.

effect of oil stocks on crude price

maybe crude is now becoming more correlated with the equities markets. it used to be that one could take 15000 or more long SPY and come out with 40-50 cents whenever crude tanked a dollar and vice versa. the arb d'jour was to trade s&p500 inversely to crude. that lasted for months. perhaps...
