How to trade delta-neutral straddles if iv can be forecasted reasonably well?

Hello Phoenix, I believe what you are looking for are vol swaps. But afaik they are not all that accessible to retail traders. Probably OTC if you have access to them somewhere. I could be wrong though.. Hth -gariki

Negative S&P Returns Over The Next Decade: BofA

Tongue in cheek.. but it happened there.. then. This time its different and it surely cant happen here. What about the growth inherrent in our stocks.. economy.. zero chance. On a side note, many well known names have been putting out forecasts for the same. Gmo. Hussmann etc. -gariki

A most basic question about the most basic of options

What claim did i make? Just go back and re read op's original post - the first three paragraphs. He is asking about basic option mechanics. And that is what i said he is right about. I have not made any claim. Chill dude; no intent to start a pissing contest. Just trying to encourage and help...

    Selling covered calls LEAPS

Yep. And that is where all the risk is in the position. Often salivating on the possible profits is the cause for major losses. So first thing is to look at the risk. Play defense. Profits will come by..

A most basic question about the most basic of options

Most of what you understand is right but since you are buying a put below the market. You wont be hedging 37k worth of qqq risk. More like 70 to 75 percent of it. Look at delta. If you buy deep itm put then that would have been right.

    Best stocks for covered call?

Whatever you pick trendisyourfriend, pick something that you will like to sit on for the long run. Markets are at all time highs.. any down move and it wont take long for the covered call strategy to not look all so wonderful. Only do it in moderation and on underlyings you can comfortably hold...

How would you play this gold option...RING

Another safe thing to think about is to ladder in time or price or both. Or like you did wait for an up day and now ladder.. there are no wrong approaches. All of them basically will take some deltas off. So just think what your comfort delta is.. Hth!

Optiver Airs Concerns on Options Market Structure

“In our opinion, the true price of these “free” trades is the loss of best execution, market transparency and a market that favors wholesaler entities that provide routing and have an affiliated market maker (MM),” Golding said. This is the only thing that talks to why it could be bad.. and it...

Do you use a limit order to "buy to close" a bull put spread?

Exactly trendisyourfriend. If you do not like the risk in a position, if you sit on a limit order, there is a good chance you might never get filled - unless you are ok with that you might want to be a bit more aggressive. But with options given the spreads, you might not want to put market...

Is it a good idea to buy bonds with leverage for retail trader?

Also i suppose you are buying at par and not at any premium. And hopefully you wont have to get out of them due to some margin changes in the middle at a discount. After that you will probably end up paying taxes on your gains.. and commisions and spreads probably? a couple of things to think about.

    Worst options/trading book?

Good one. This Tony Saliba book takes this prize. Cottle for example pumps this guy up so much in one of his books so i thought his books should be interesting to read and have some nuggets. Zero. Total crap - its been a very long time since i read that book but it left a clear imprint in me...

    Long calls and stop losses

Very well said zghorner. Even with a decent system, adding option trading on top will add its own complexity. what you really need to do if you are quantitatively bent, is not just look for entry and exit signals of a system - but pair them with the particular option trading system = and...

would you ever do an iron condor that was OTM?

why not? if for whatever reason your forecast is for price to settle in that range above.. an ic up there could be the best risk-reward structure.

    Bitcoin, Currencies and Fragility- Taleb

Was curious how good Universa actually did. Not reliable sources (aka youtube) but i've seen numbers around 80% CAGR for over a 10 year reporting period. That's pretty impressive.
