Just noticed the huge bearish engulfing candle in OIH after new record highs. Your point about destroying outperforming stocks is a good one. However, I still think small cap leadership is of the utmost importance and so far this week, nothing "good" for the market is occuring in that sector.

Yes, the "bottom is in" crew from yesterday was selling late today. Decent fear now, especially with all the news due out tomorrow, oil, you name it.

Clearly some rotation going on, but not sure how you view it as constructive. I personally would much rather see $$ rotating out of large caps and into small as a sign of a healthy market. Throw in sustained inflows to treasuries lately and it looks like big money wants less risk, not more.

Pricing out the weekend time decay and next week is a holiday shortened week. VIX almost always goes down on a Friday unless market makes large down move.

So nice to have the volatility back. Volume not that big today however, especially given the extent of the move down and new yearly lows in the Dow and banks. Volume up/dn ratios showed decent capitulation, but total volume nothing like that of the Jan or March lows.

b shape - ok. But ES has range extension down not up. Today is a mess anyway. Midcaps led the early strength and they went neutral. Most other indices have range extension down and volume is typical Monday in the summer light.
