    Super Strong Volume Today 08-28-08

Exactly what about today meets "super-strong" volume criteria? To me it seems more like sellers left the building after Monday's close.

Any significant difference between TOS or OX software?

I have accounts with both and this post pretty much sums up the difference. If you want my opinion, TOS software is far superior, faster, and more stable than OX web-based.

    Better Cover Bears!

Judging by the beachball known as QQQQ you may indeed be right. Up 5 of the last 6 days and holding close to 8% rally from last week's lows.

What are you ER2 fellows doing...

Using 3 minute bars, day session only, the average bar range over the last 2 weeks of trading has been $1.24 for ER2 and $3.16 for NQ. Translating both of those figures into dollars and dividing by overnight margin requirements I come up with the following: ER2: $124/$5250=2.36% NQ...

Who is best trader? WHY? What strategy do you guess they use or used?

+1 He manages to stay out of the press and just does his thing. Everyone has heard of legends like Tudor Jones and Boone Pickens but outside of the energy industry Mr. Arnold isn't that widely known.

    Nice job TradeStation!

I agree, not sure TS gives a damn. But the "not knowing" period was way too damn long to be excused as routine connectivity problems.

    Nice job TradeStation!

Because the phones are overwhelmed with people panicking because they don't know their positions. Not making excuses for TS mind you. BTW, other brokers executing just fine on CME from what I understand.

    Nice job TradeStation!

Deja vu on this tradeserver/support forum outage. The 2 have happened in tandem before, can't remember when, last fall perhaps? BTW, my last executed order was 10:52cst and within the last 2 minutes I successfully placed another so I was unaware of any problems until reading these posts.

    Ewj: elliott wave

When both bulls and bears agree market needs a pullback before it can run any higher it often capitulates up, especially in bear markets. Looks like Nasdaq is doing just that.

    Negative Theta Options over Weekend

Using my post as your logic generator so is Tuesday. Re-read what I wrote. I was stating the fact that all other things being equal an option will lose more value from a Thursday close until a Monday open than from a Monday close to a Wednesday open. In both cases ONE full trading day...

    Negative Theta Options over Weekend

There sure as heck is, options will lose more theta from a Thur close to a Mon open than a Mon close to a Wed open for example.

How many record consecutive up days has the S&P historically had?

Yes, Monday was indeed down for SPX. 6 consecutive ups and >12% rally from lows in Russell. 6 and >37% XLF. Truly an amazing squeeze

    Oil Trader bankrupts SemGroup

Nope, he blew up making bets on the summer/winter spread. Basically was betting on huge (and I do mean huge) winter over summer spreads and they narrowed drastically.

The Darkest Storm is About to Descend - You Can't Imagine the Carnage

The fade. You mean like the constant barrage of "how/where can I short bank stocks" posts that have been made on this forum ever since last Thursday?

Lemme guess: new lows after this "ginormous" short cover is over.

Why is RUT rallying? Experts in...

Mother of all short squeezes is right - XLF up 28.5% from a week ago today's lows. IWM up 11% from a week ago today. Crude oil hammered, and the airline index up, what, 65% from last week's lows. I would argue we have seen massive hedge fund liquidations recently. They tend to herd into...

Why is RUT rallying? Experts in...

RUT often ignored by the press, but rarely it is wise to fade it. I personally think it leads all the time and right now it is telling us to buy the dips. Problem is, there haven't been any because both bulls and bears looking for one.
