    Notification when receiving dividends

Guys, is there a way to receive an SMS or an email (to my registered email with IB) whenever my IB account is credited with a dividend ? I contacted IB via chat and the lady said no, but she didn't seem very sure of what she was telling me, so asking here. She said I should be receiving a...

Was there a change in US tax law ?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have a W8BEN form in place. But are you saying that in your case, as a non-US person, you pay zero tax even on dividends when they are categorized as income ?

Was there a change in US tax law ?

I am a non-US citizen living in Hong-Kong, and own US shares. As an example, DMO. DMO is a Closed End Fund that distributes 3 types of cashflow/dividend: Income, Short-Term Capital Gain, and Long-Term Capital Gain For the past few years I have owned this stock, I was being charged a 30%...

    NYSE rule on orders

I have a question. I have noticed that my broker will not let me place a buy order - resp a sell order - more than 30% - resp 50% - away from the last traded price. Is this a NYSE listing rule, or just the broker policy ? Thank you. JRKOB.

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

No, it means that you need to pay 36% per annum of the notional you want to "insure", and this is for a maturity of 5y (Bloomberg doesn't know yet how to deal with upfront+running but can't blame them as market participants change the way they quote all the time). In the real world, no one...

Does SEC's insider trading rules apply to Greece's CDS?

Hi, I currently trade CDS for a bank out of Asia and this market is "in general" not regulated. Certain jurisdictions may impose restrictions though, for certain categories of clients (I'm thinking of Taiwanese insurance companies for example, who cannot do CDS).

    Anyone trading from Singapore?

Ok I must admit I'm not familiar with this particular residence but the area is indeed very nice, very central and very convenient if you want to go... pretty much anywhere on the island. By the way I'm not prop trading and only use internet at home for email etc... as in standard home usage...

    Anyone trading from Singapore?

I think it depends if you have a family, your life style, and how far you are willing to live from your office/work place. I live near Raffles place very close to my office with a family and have to caugh up SGD5.8k for a 1200ft in a nice condo. My best friend living with a family...

    US witholding tax

Hi, I am living in Singapore and am not a US citizen. I would like to buy US stocks but I understand that there is a 30% witholding tax on dividend. Is there an "easy" way to get around this ? For the US bonds I hold, a few years back my broker had asked me to fill a form (was it...

    Senior Notes

I'm not arguing about the fact that its high yielding (historically, and over a long enough period of time from what I see on the chart). We don't seem to share the same definition of "secure" though, provided that by "secure", we actually mean "safe".

secure with a yield of 10% ??

Carphone Warehouse (is that C-PW ?) doesn't seem to have bonds outstanding and AT&T's are going to pay in the Libor+30bp or so. So quite far from your target. 10% is definitely very high yield, rated in the single B category roughly. GM bonds pay that kind of yield. If your money was in...

Cheapest China Stock in the World

Their turnover has increased 10% since 2003, but their net result dropped 60% in the same period. Year after year the trend is getting clearer and clearer. In 2005 they restructured their activity, cut down on their usual businesses and bet the ranch on soybean processing. They're dying...

    HSBC offshore

Okay, in my opinion clearly they're not to be used as a broker, their fee schedule isn't competitive at all for someone who trades actively anyway. When I say they're fast, I mean with banking stuff since I believe this is what the original question is about: making a transfer overseas...
