    Mechanical or Discretionary????????

Hmm... honestly, I thought everyone used a combination of the two. I don't see why you would have to choose, but I guess I would choose mechanical if I had to. But generally, I open positions mechanically and close them at my discretion.

    The Traders Age? :)

Hmm you know, it would be better to have an equal age range for the different choices. But you've got 10 years between 50-60 and only 3 between 18-21. Looking at the results, we are mostly younger traders, but it doesn't appear that way graphically. :p :D

Prophecy - Nothing can bring down the market now!

Yeah, I've seen too many people predicting a "buyer's exhaustion top". I think you can use that as a contrarian indicator just as easily. Not that I'm a contrarian.

High Win/Loss gives you a better feel?

I think a 50/50 win/loss is optimal for monitoring your progress. If you have infrequent wins then you will look like a genius after a win, and an idiot just before one. Or the opposite for infrequent losses. So its hard to know if you are really doing well, or just getting lucky. But this...

    The Learning Curve

Interesting to hear the different sorts of problems people have. I've been trading/learning for a year now. It's been a tough year. After just treading water for several months, I made a lot of money daytrading in Oct/Nov 2002, which was very exciting, but then I watched my profits gradually...

31% Return Over Last 8 Trading Days

So how the heck DO you know when a trading method is working, anyway? Seems like as soon as I decide something works, and I start trading it for real, that's when it stops working. The old "fooled by randomness" deal, I guess.
