Hey all, kinda looking through commidities still here as a new commodities trader I can't quite figure out what accounts for the massive difference in price between the OCT 06 and NOV 06 natural gas futures one is going for around 7.5 and the other 9.5 what accounts for this huge...

i am not trying to trade the gold options though I am trying to use them mainly to hedge /lock in profit on other positions unless someone knows of a place to find better gold options?

lol its more complicated than that really, I am a pretty successful spot gold and FX trader (options there too) so I am experimenting right now, more like hedging and arbing.... thats why i am wondering about what happens at option expiry, i dont really ever intend on selling the...

but then I shouldn't have to worry about anything other than the fact that it just expired worthless and I lost money, correct? there is no chance of my broker rolling it into something else if the option expires worthless? thx

err wow volume and OI on these gold futures is like almost non existent who is spending all day moving the bids and asks and not actually trading anything?? computers?

thanks for the reply.... Are you saying that even though the contract says sept 6th on it, it really expires at sometime on Aug 28th, and that is the date at which the option would be converted to a futures if its in the money and I never closed it? I assume you mean the last day to trade...

hmm i guess you are saying some months are more liquid than others? are the liquid months then the "non serial options" months, February, April, June, August, October and December ?

I guess one thing i forgot to mention is that I do know of the preferable tax implications for ES and that may be the most major reason to choose ES I guess?? do any of the brokers pay you interest on cash parked in your account?

how could anyone possibly succeed from your "strategy" when you have never explained it beyond anything generalized, (you have not even disclosed something simple like the grid size itself), and then you also admit many times there are discretionary trader elements to it?

firehorse, your calculations were very similar to mine you see that huge drawdown you got in 2003? it was worse in 2002 and what you didnt do is carry the drawdown into the following years, you reset everything to 0 at beginning of each year recalculate your system from 2002 right...
