    Hlv Trading Goes Public

Reverse merger is what Muriel Siebert did to take her firm public. It is what the NYSE is doing with ARCA.

    Macfutures rumours

Phenom, You sound a little bitter. Were you canned from Mac? All firms have their ups and owns. I know of no overall firm in this space that clears futures, equites, options, bonds, etc as well as Refco. Their overall business dominates the multinational space. Good luck.

    Macfutures rumours

When I first posted a guess at the rumour, LRD PM'd me that that was not the rumour he heard. I do not want to violate a PM, so I suggest you PM him directly and ask. I don't think he is hiding as much as he is trying to protect his journalistic integrity by not posting rumours. We can...

Newb to trading, a little help with the basics long post

JoMama, I for one think you have a great future trading. You clearly recognize patterns including the example of how long it took your friend in the same field to get a job. I would not get a job. I would try my hand at trtading. i also would not force myself to get rid of the short bias...

    RediPlus

CPT, FWIW, ETG will let you trade equities, options, futures and forex on REDI+ and they are all cross margined. I would suspect that the other brokers who use REDI+ will too.

    RediPlus

Basic and very stable. Rates depend on the firm you are clearing through. Bright and ETG use it. I am sure there are other firms too. I like it, but I am not doing anything too fancy. Just reading the tape, making decisions and executing.

    Arch Crawford . . .

He was really negative. Jump out the window type negative. Mentioned a 1930 's type decline. Talked about how there could be a rally in the middle of this potentially big down move. His recent track I hear is good. The stars must be aligned.

    Macfutures rumours

LRD, Thanks for your clarification. You did not say if at the end of the day your research turns up nothing if you would post a clean bill of health. Journalists rarely attempt to correct any impressions they may have left. Discipline I want to make it very clear that what I posted...

    Macfutures rumours

If this is regarding the Chicago office of Macfutures, is the person in question a man named Gould? What did he do (or not do)? Is it true that the CFTC is investigating?

    Forward Conversions

Conversions themselves are legal. It is the use of them after you put them on that may create a regulatory liability. If you are using them to circumvent the short sale rule then you are guilty of manipulation and other wonderful things. If your trading strategy is so dependent on needing...

    Assent Conversions?

The legality of the product is not the issue. Marrieds are still legal. It is the use of the product after the fact that creates a regulatory liability. The SEC looks for manipulation. Trying to get the best price for your sale not the worst to drive it down. Allowing a trader to put on a...

Great point! A firm with big inventories can leverage them by "lending" them to in-house daytraders. Mother Merrill here I come.
