Thanks for digging this up. This is by far the most worthwhile post made all day. imo life itself is a gamble and an endless series of tradeoffs where the actions you don't take most often will cost you more in lost opportunites than the actions taken. Good luck to you too.....and yes, I do...

    Reminiscences of a Moron

If we assume you are consistently wrong, try this experiment. Open another brokerage account and take an opposite position in the same market with twice the size as your "regular" trade. Since you are reliably wrong, take advantage and make that your "edge".

    Trading Methods Revealed

Good for you. I have an exceedingly simple system too that's been working wonders. I assume you looked around with different software vendors before automating with Tradestation? How difficult is the coding and is the slippage manageable. I'd love to automate and pursue other more pleasurable...

Nations are like Pimps and Ho's . A nation is underpinned by its mass psychology. The Pimps psychology is inherently underpinned by greed and power lust, therefore he'll always find the means to control others for his own gratification. The powerful advanced nations are the Pimps and the...

Is data mining for trading patterns impossible?

So why not move into the realm of AI. Have you looked at the openmind project? ( http://commonsense.media.mit.edu/cgi-bin/search.cgi ), you're thinking along the same lines. I've been trying to read up on AI, but my intellect defeats me.

How can hedge funds make substantial amounts from market neutral strategies. If you hedge both sides of the trade, does'nt the resultant profit/loss leave only a marginal profit at best.

Do you tell people you're a trader?

I'd tell them I'm a money manager, as of this time I have enough under management. However if I were to take in new money at a future date, they'd be the first to know.

    Day Trading under $25k...

A bankruptcy filing when they have $100 million in total customer deposits in the brokerage account makes for a fine retirement. Especially in corrupt places where the whole govt. including the president on down can be bought for a $1 million bribe.

    Mathematics skills for discretionary trading.

I'm beginning to think it's the same person posting back and forth asking questions and answering them himself. Does anyone have a clue what this back and forth banter is all about? All I could manage to comprehend is it's about cycles.

    Mathematics skills for discretionary trading.

Although we're all playing in the Major league, the level of mathematics you need to learn depends on wether you want to play at the major league level, the minor league level or the local neighborhood league level. At the major league level, you're up against some of the toughest...

Going public with a system ruins it?

I think the validity of that statement depends on the timeframe and the liquidity of the market that the system applies to. For the longer timeframe (ie months) systems, you would in fact want more people to know about your system, since the advantage from timing entry/exit is marginal...

College grad w/ job offer and questions

Take the engineering position and save your money. If you have a choice, get a job where you can trade with a *very small* account a few hours in the morning and then go to work in the afternoon. Unless you're a genius and were born to trade, it'll take you at least a few years to find your...
