Trailing Stops @ IB - Unreliable?

Dr. Bob, I double-checked this, and you are correct. This is the way that they have been designed to work. Auto-trailing stops are designed to be attached to limit orders that are not going to fill right away. If the limit order is marketable, you don't need to use an attached stop. Just...

Trailing Stops @ IB - Unreliable?

Dr. Bob, I tested it on the HSI Futures today, and it worked fine. The first price on the trailing stop was generated from the first trade after the limit order was filled. If you see the behavior that you mentioned, please take a screenshot, and send it over to the helpdesk - or PM...

Trailing Stops @ IB - Unreliable?

Dr. Bob, As mentioned, in my previous post. You can set-up your layout so that you can see the current stop price. This will enable you to see how it is working. You should also use the colour coding. This is how it works: You send a limit order plus an attached trailing stop. 1...

Trailing Stops @ IB - Unreliable?

Blue Horseshoe, As chairman of the local TA society, they often get me on to do a live segment in the morning (squawkbox) which covers TA on local markets (usually Asian indices). The session you saw was a pre-recorded session. It was about 6 minutes long covering the $, and Renminbi, Yen...

IB PDT on Canadian Stock (TSE)?

I am not exactly sure of the exact reasons as I haven't been involved in the discussions with the SEC. However, we have to impose PDT on anyone trading Canadian markets. We are trying to work out a solution. Will let you know if I find out any further information.

IB PDT on Canadian Stock (TSE)?

Yes, unfortunately PDT rules apply for Canadian stocks to all customers. It seems that PDT rules will also apply to US customers in every stock market. PDT rules do not apply for non-US customers in non-US and non-Canadian products.

    Cant buy bonds with IB

Yes, that's how it works - and the reverse for short positions. The only other fee is the standard commission charged upon expiration. If you don't have enough currency then you will end up with a debit balance. The position +1 6EU3 and -2E7U3 should just offset on settlement.

    EURODOLLAR OPTIONS (Globex) via IB

IB only offers options on ES futures. Although, its not very liquid, one of the advantages of IB is that we also provide indicative quotes for these options. FX options are pit traded. FX futures are parallel traded - i.e. they trade electronically and in the pit during regular trading...
