    Bear Put Spread Question

I think if you had bought a back dated month option spread, you wouldn't have run into that trouble. You might not have doubled your money if you look at it in absolute terms, but if you were willing to pay a little bit more to put on the spread, your profit in dollar value will be higher. Am...

    ATM vs. OTM

Thanks for the information guys. Actually I was meaning to give you Jan '10 options info, since that is what I actually hold. Sorry about that. But anyways my takeaway from this, is that gamma is higher on front month options and further in the money and less in the back months or on...

    Options on Futures

You could say that. Except when you are short a naked option. When you are naked stock option, your margin will be 50% of the strike value (i.e. Selling 1 $5 call will give you a margin of $250 [100 x $5 * 50%). This is Reg T margin. With options on futures contract, they use SPAM margin or...

Short position on DITM call options but underlying is non-shortable stocks

I've never heard of non-shortable stocks. But, if you do get assigned a short position, I'm guessing the option will be cash settled and you will be debited the difference between the strike price and the settling price of the underlying..... I would double check though...:p

    Fed Fund Futures

CBOT.com shows that the May contract closed at 97.9450. So, does that mean there is a 80% chance of the Fed lowering rates to 2.00%?

    Back month Futures

So, if one were to predict that there would be the same amount demand at that time or maybe more, then would you consider going long that contract now?

    Back month Futures

    S&P Emini Options Volumes

How do you deal with the wide spreads? They can get from .50-1.25 wide. That's $12.50 - $62.50. The SPY options are REAL tight, only a penny or two wide. Thanks.

    Fed Fund Futures

Hello, I have another question! :) I hear on the news that the market has priced a 80% chance of a fed rate cut of 50 bps, or something like that. How do I find that out by looking at the fed funds futures contract? According to CBOT.com, the April Fed Funds Futures contract closed...

    Spread b/t ES & SPX

Hi, Since most now roll over to the June ES contract to trade, I noticed that difference between the March ES contract, (which now should trade close to the SPX), is trading pretty close the June ES contract as well. From the Esignal data that I have, I have the June ES contract closing at...

    Options Question

I started recently to daytrade ES options. In that time, I have found the good and bad in daytrading options - ES options anyways. The bad is obviuosly the b/a spreads. ES traded almost 24 hours a day, so you can trade its options, but the spread is going to be huge, but after about 7:30am CT...
