    20-Delta Short Strangles

It good that you stopped the experiment. I was not sure your approach would work. There are many misconceptions regarding short strangles. I will give you some pointers from my many years of experience. First: don't trade high IV stocks in strangles. High IV gives you poor risk/reward. You need...

    20-Delta Short Strangles

The most important thing in trading is to manage your risk not your profits. Take what the market gives you not what you want or expect.

    20-Delta Short Strangles

I have learned the hard way that mental stops don't work for me, so I place a stop order once I get filled. The 45DTE just get you further out from the current price so you have time to react to the market. I almost never hold to expiration. You are waiting for a drop in volatility so you can...

    Put spreads for income?

Losses are part of the game. You just need to manage it. The best approach is to use a stop loss order. The long PUT is not going to do much for you when you loss. The long PUT is generally used to reduce the capital requirement on the trade so you can trade more contracts. By knowing your...

    20-Delta Short Strangles

Your strategy will work provided you use a stop loss on your open positions. I do something similar; I sell 45DTE strangles with 85%OTM and use a 3x stop on the credit received. The standing stop order is necessary to protect against violent moves like Feb 2020. Without the stop your losses will...

Do you use a limit order to "buy to close" a bull put spread?

In my experience, it's easier to leg out of the trade at a fill price. I always use limit order to exit. Focus on exiting out of the short (problem) leg first. I know that may people say never leg out but in my experience, when you need to exit quickly and at a good price, legging out beats a...

Scarlett Johansson is suing Disney over Black Widow’s streaming release

The problem is the term theatrical release means to make particular Digital Entertainment Content commercially available to consumers in a cinema or theater on a basis other than for test purposes. The lawyers have a point. Online streaming is not covered by that definition.

Which variable is important to look at for call/put options?

The bid/ask spread is the most important variable. Wide bid/ask spread equates to less interest in the option. High interest is very important when you are trying to exit a position. Large bid/ask spread equates to bad exit prices.

Robinhood daytrader owes 800K to IRS on a profit of 45K

If you continue reading you will see "For example, consider the case of an investor who purchased 100 shares of Microsoft for $33, sold the shares at $30, and within 30 days bought 100 shares at $32. In this case, while the loss of $300 would be disallowed by the IRS because of the wash-sale...

Robinhood daytrader owes 800K to IRS on a profit of 45K

The store does not make sense. You don't lose the loss deduction because you didn't wait 30 days. It just get added to the cost basis so your next profitable position is not that profitable. So, everything works out the same in the end. Just more booking required.
