    IB TWS

after reading the post about the new build I updated my TWs. However it is buikd 696a and does not have the features like log off time which were mentioned.

    IB TWS

I think TWS4 is getting worse, not better.Since all my quotes on a page are stock, I would like to hide that column. All the description columns should be individually hideable. And whoever posted that the account summary box is worse is correct. It takes up too much space now and the lettering...

    def- limit sell orders

I assume this means no limit orders at all at night (not talking about stop limit). I buy a contract at 1700 and want to sell it at 1750 if it goes up overnight. I assume your comments mean that I cannot put any order in above the market. How does your software monitor this? What is I put a sell...

    def- limit sell orders

If a stop market order will not be executed overnight, what about a stop limit order. Also what about a normal sell order. Say I buy a contract for 1700 and put in a GTC sell limit order at 1750. Will this be executed overnight if that level is reached and it can trade there. Thanks.

    IB Futures question

I have just started trading the eminis at IB. Whenever I take a position, I immediately put a stop order to unwind it if things don't go right. My question is whether these will get filled during the night. I would assume so since its all on Globex, but want to check. Also if it is a day order...

    Emini daily high and low

Does anyone know where on the web I can find intrday the high and low for either of the eminis. I trade with IB which does not have the days high and low.

    IB Margin sellouts

I reread your reply about the 100 shares so let me rephrase my question. Suppose someone owns 20,000 shares on margin. When you hit maintenance margin call would they only sell 100 shares, which would immediately put you back into maintenance compliance. Another few cents down, and they would...

    IB Margin sellouts

def - does it liquidate enough (for stocks) to bring it into maintenance margin requirements, or initial margin requirements. The reason I ask this is theoretically, the first second you violate maintenance margin you need only sell 1 share of stock to put it back into maintenance compliance. I...

    IB Margin sellouts

I have never had a margin sellout, but a friend asked me a question that I do not have an answer. Say you own 1000 shares of a stock on margin that has gone down enough to be in a margin call situation. I know that IB automatically sells you out, but how much do they sell? Do they sell just...

    Barrons 7/2/01: Direct Access Showdown

It all depends on what you are looking for. I use IB because I want low cost, fast execution, and good choice of execution routes. I can get level2, charting, and research elsewhere. If one is ranking based on all criteria, one can also include difficulty of getting a human on the phone, no...

    Interactive Brokers vs. Preferred Trade

Blackjack Something is wrong with your system. I have the downloaded java version and not only are their no problems, but I copied the files onto my laptop and took it all over the country and it works fine.

    How Good is BEST

I hate to be involved in such a trivial argument, but just for the record LaBier's "Tools of the Trade" was published on the web way before Oct 2000. I don't know the exact date, but I downloaded it in either late 1999 or early 2000. I don't know if that quote is in there, and quite honestly I...

    Tradingmarkets.com

I am not thrilled with Tradingmarket.com. I think Thestreet.com is a lot better. Tradingmarket (TM) tells you a lot about what happened. The Dow went up because of blah, the Naz went down because of blah. I don't need a service to tell me what has happened during the day. They have technical...

    IB and Level 2

You could keep $10k at AB Watley to get their quotes, and do the bulk of your trading elsewhere (like IB). If you don't do 20 tradesermonth, they will charge you $50 per month, but that is still a lot less than other services, and they are pretty good.

    Can't stand the new TWS

"the arb meter just gives a reference to how much the future is at a premium (green) or discount (red). The longer the bar the larger the amount." Def - Is this a premium or discount from fair value (calculated how often and in what manner), from previous close, or from something else? Thanks

    Can't stand the new TWS

Thanks Def, that helps. Could you explain a little but about the arbitrage meter?

    Can't stand the new TWS

I hate the new changes to TWS. Adding the exchanges really clutteres up an option screen. If I move the exchanges to the side, then the color bars for change are on the wrong column. Yuk!

    Questions about multiple IB accounts

    1. I believe that IB can only take cash. No transfer of securities. 2. Multiple accounts have multiple log ins. No linking. 3. You can't legally trade your wife's account at IB even with her permission. Of course if she gives you her login data, they will never know.

    ADSL vs Cable

I have cable but my backup is the ATT Worldnet $4.95 per month dial up option. The good part is when I travel I can log in from almost anywhere as a local call (Worldnet has log on numbers everywhere). This saves me long distance calls on my hotel bills. The negative is that you get some ads...
