Trading e-minis with $1k starting capital

limitdown is correct, risk managment is very important. that is what will keep you in the game or toss you out. My opinion is increase the number of contracts slowly very slowly. If you do that, you will be happy with your results

ES trade mgt. in today's volatile mkt.

"Right now I am in the red for sure.....getting my ass handed to me right now since I got in a little too early apparently....I still think it has a shot at working." why don"t you exit position and wait on sidlines (without losing money) then renter when the trade starts "working"

ES trade mgt. in today's volatile mkt.

the market has three "trading zones" and also a monthly cycle. that said the movements are close to the same year after year. the way you should approach a trade in the summer should be different than in november. lesser time frames etc

If you keep losing money, how do you do the opposite?

I think your first problem in too much trading. Especially if you are losing!!! Stop trading for at lewast ONE MONTH! Then ease back into it on paper. If you cannot make it on paper then losing it in a real account just destroys you confidence. You can get more money, but regaing...

    Taking Profits Too Early

I think the answer is "it depends". It depends on the person and their trading style. When I first started my main concern was entry points. And I would hit the entry point and sell up a point. Well, that ended up to be my style. Everyonce in a while a trade runs and I get a lot more...

If you love trading, you will lose money

The cool thing is as his account increses (without him knowing it) I have been incresing the number of contracts. He started with one contract and now he his up to 10 contracts. At this rate, before the year is out, he will be making more in the 1 month he is out of school than the teachers...

If you love trading, you will lose money

some interesting points about the "video game of trading" I think looking at trading as a "video" game is not that much of a bad idea. I have been trading a little over 10 years, every year booking profits (some better than others). So as an experiment my nine year old son is in "year...

For most of yesturday and all of today I've had a program my internet provider, so I have not been getting good info to trade off of. So to pass the time I've been looking at the quotes (the only thing I get NO CHARTS) and the DOM trying to see a pattern enough to trade. that is what what I...

The best ES "day trading" mkts in years

"Took you 8 years to move from stocks (I assume) to futures? I guess the first 5 years were losing years?" No, not at all, the first few years were good years. i played stocks like YHOO, AMZN, DELL, QQQ. like everyone else playing the internet stocks were the best chances to get in stocks...
