    Most prop firms are pretty good, it really depends on what stock you are trying to short and when you are trying to short the stock vs the actual prop shop. if the stock is hard to borrow a trader can do a "dealer locate" to short it. It mainly the stock then the actual prop firm if you IMO

    yes, Echo requires a series 7 and maybe a 63 depending on what state you live in, and if you are remote they offer 100% but you are on your own (no training/mentoring) not sure about their offices in NYC or S. FL, just pick up the phone and ask

    Having a series 7 has nothing to do with leverage.

    depending on the SRO, for example some SEC broker/dealer's SRO may be with the CBOE/CBSX. They do not require traders to take the series 7 but all traders need to fill out a u4/finger print card as the trading firm still and may get audited so all traders still have to register
