    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

Can any of the more solid programmer types quantify how much more bandwidth we are really talking here and what kind of additional processing power would be necessary to manage the increased order flow? It would be interesting to see what the cost in time and bandwidth of processing one...

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

IBsoft, Go easy. My comment wasn't directed at you/IB. It is the CME's math that has me irked. However, as you say we don't now what the full picture is yet so I'll just chill out, have a cool one, and wait to see what comes forth in the next month or so. However, my real point is...

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

While I agree that there is no free lunch, $1 is excessive. If you want to monitor and update your orders via an API, you are going to do that multiple times a day under any circumstances. If I do that once every 10 minutes (39x/day from the open) -- which is absurdly slow -- then I am out $39...

    IB and new CME Cancel/Modify

That's an average of 208 changes per trade. It's not hard to imagine an auto-system that updates stops and targets every minute doing that. It only 3.5 hours of updates/trade... From my perspective automated trading is only going to get bigger and trying to squelch it with surcharges is not...

Naked Shorting on Dateline NBC Tonight.

Actually, If you look at PIPE (toxic convert) trades you will see that you absolutely can manipulate prices down. A classic example of this during the dot com era was ANCR. There are many others and people -- a few -- have been going to jail for them lately.

    Don't Go With CyberTrader!

It's been a few years -- and I went to IB in the end -- but I used the Schwab day trader system (cyberlite). I found it and the customer service to be quite good. I had no problems with fund withdrawls -- although they did it by fax and not internet. While I don't use them now I would use...

OK, So, on the trade as established the Er2 side would be @ 4pts in the red (adjusted for delta, etc...) and the YM position is also moving slightly against the original basis as well. Is there a way you could explain the initial risk/reward on a unit basis that I could understand. I'm...

OK, So that thread is not relevant to the positions described in this thread. So, I guess the question is now that the ER2 650 Short Put position is ITM do you plan to do anything to manage it at this point? Appreciate your keeping this journal. Sam

    Option replication and exotics journal

I'm confused. The original entry above shows you selling puts.... The position was long 2 YM at 10600 and short 1 ER2 at 650. As for the P&L, obviously I was interested in tracking it on a unit basis. The quantity you actually trade is irrelavant I'd think.

That's more or less what I was afraid might happen -- that strike was really close. What was the additional cost on that one? It would be nice to keep track of the results as well as the positions and the reason taken.

I'll be the first to admit that I only understand what you are doing generally, but...:) Can you define the risk/reward on this one for me. That ER2 position would make me a bit nervous.

Mr. Ignorance back again, :) What's an ER2 950 put. Aren't we around 660 right now? What are the bracketed numbers in your examples? I tried looking up the IV on IB's option trader and got radically different numbers. I could only get IWM on Ivolatility.com and they were around 15% IV...
