A few of today's ex-dividends that worked out great from yesterday: CBO div of .43 a share...only opened down .19 CCB div of .51 a share...only opened down .12 JPT div of .46 a share...opened down .52 but has run up and is currently down .30 So if you can find some non volatile stocks,like...

Another example...CBNJ went ex-dividend today.Pays a dividend of $1.05 a share.Stock closed at 21.10 yesterday and opened higher today at 21.50.Would have been a 13.7% return, both dividend and gain together, overnight in a margin account. So sometimes the strategy works out very well.

    Dividends

I have noticed that stocks sometimes don't drop by the amount of the dividend on the ex-dividend date.Sometimes they open higher. If anyone has some good experience buying stocks before the ex-dividend date and selling on the ex-dividend day, please share and let us know if this is a worthwhile...

    Dividends

This might be a stupid question but...if you buy a stock on the day before the ex-dividend date,i assume that you are entitled to the dividend even if you sell your position the next day on the ex-dividend date?

    Why NYSE market orders SUCK

No more Supersoes. As of December 2,all nasdaq stocks are on supermontage, which trades with all MM's and ecn's,except isld and inca. But in my opinion,ARCA is the best way to trade nasdaq, since they trade with all mm's and ecn's.So that is your 1 nasdaq route.

    ADFN and INCA

The level 2 book i look at shows the complete island and instinet books. It was showing Island and CINN mirroring each other, and Instinet and ADFN mirroring each other. So i just filtered out ADFN and CINN from the level 2 book.

why THE HELL is it so easy to do the wrong thing...

Gordon, what stocks are you trading? I focus only on nasdaq. The fills are quick, the stocks have good volatility, and you never get traded through.I currently focus on msft, qcom, nvls, klac, and qlgc, trading anywhere from 1000-2000 shares at a time.I watch a tick chart of the sp 500 futures(not...

SCALPERS: Criteria for cutting losses / profit-taking

Limiting yourself to a penny or two loss per share is ridiculous and absurd. You'll get stopped out almost every time.On losing trades,I generally prefer no more than 1/2-1% of the stock price. If i'm focusing on a $30 stock,i look to lose no more than 30 cents and look to make at least 50...
