The really funny/sad part is we're all being completely honest/helpful. It's like asking an artist how to paint. All they could tell you is buy a brush, canvas, etc and do it. It wouldn't help anyone a whole lot to get the answer on where to buy the brush.

    Map to SAC

Yes, they are part of sales and trading. These days their job is to stay as close to even PnL as possible, mostly always on the losing side. No, this experience is generally not seen as a path to the prop side of an IB

    shorting UTSI - SEC investigation

To be sure, you need to ask your broker exactly how they handle this situation. But, the generic case is if you're short a stock that goes to zero, you never have to "cover"/realize your gain - so you've made the money and never have to pay taxes.

Can one do day trading and investing at the same time?

I think what Cohen said (in market wizards) was to find what you do best and pursue it.....something like "If it's daytrading then daytrade, if it's long term investing then invest for the long term". There's absolutely no inherent conflict, but I think most who do really well figure out what...

Need Advice on career change into trading

Venturer- I think what you are seeking is quite possible, though maybe not very probable. The only way I know to "learn" to perform at the level which you describe is to find someone who's already there AND is willing to teach you.....all day, every day, for a long time (maybe a year or...

Gator, Let me apoligize in advance if I'm off base, but I just checked out your posts and 7 months ago you were looking for a prop firm that offered training in futures and 2 months ago you were seeking feedback on some sort of IPO flipping scheme backed by someone looking to split half the...

Thanks def, seth I'm already feeling much more comfortable with the purchase! Apparently it just takes an additional radon card ($199). The standard card is a dual, so the extra card is supposed to get me to 4 monitors. I'll let you know how it works,

IB TWS for Mac - Has anyone tried

Has anyone used the IB TWS for a MAC? I just got off the phone with the apple store and b/f I drop $11k on 2 powermac's and 8 (overpriced) monitors, it would be great to hear from someone who might be willing to share good/bad experiences running TWS on a MAC. Def? IBsoft? It would be great...
