    It's a good thing. I got the research and coverage I wanted and I didn't have to switch. IB has lower commissions and I don't have to deal with the headaches of learning a new platform and accounting of "away trades". Another company, Merlin, you may want to check out as well.

    It turns out the brokers I wanted to deal with were much more open to having me write them a check for their research than I expected, so I kept my account at IB, and at least this year, am not "trading away" I investigated several firms and I thought RBC Carlin would have been the best for me...

    I want to talk to analysts at different firms about what they've written in their equity research reports. For this each firm must be "paid" in commissions. That's why I'd use a prime broker to easily "trade away" at different firms - so they each get paid. I think doing daily, multiple äway...

    Is anyone using a prime broker? I'm considering setting one up to pay for sell-side equity research via commissions. My "wish list" would be someone with low fees as I want the extra "cost" to go for research, not other services. I'd also need them to accept a low account minimum of $1-$2...

    I havent' gotten a TMBR fill in months that I recall, but I was generally always happy when i did.
