    Trading closed-end funds?

Are closed-end funds a popular tool for speculation trading? I've always thought of them more-over as investment vehicles (i.e., mainly for holding purposes, not trading), but I'm curious if there's a lot out there who trade them.

    Cgq

I havn't personally used it, but at the last place I worked (managed futures investment firm) none of the analysts who used it were that impressed with it; most stuck w/ TS

    TS2KI and portfolio view software?

Are there any decent add-ons to Tradestation 2ki that allow you to have a portfolio viewpoint analysis? (as opposed to having to analyze commodities individually) I know Rina makes some good shit, but 9000USD for it.......meh.....although I may not have much of a choice :(

    developing system vs following

It's better than nothing. What are you going to do - start trading blindly praying that you won't crap out?

    developing system vs following

definately following a system you know works; almost any system can be made profitable, it's the stupid human nature of doubting yourself that ruins everything.....atleast for me - I'm always questioning myself like 'well, it did great in the past across all sorts of markets/conditions, but what...

    Theories on backtesting?

Curious, how do you guys go about backtesting? For example, if you have 10yrs worth of data, will you simply decide on the strategies/commodities you are willing to trade, find the most stable primary paramteres, backtest, do some forward testing and then be satisfied that your system is...

    Profitable vs Business Profitable

Do you guys find, on average, trading daily/weekly vs 30/60minute is profitable, but not business profitable? What i mean by that is you can yank a nice return, have a nice risk/reward (i.e., profit factor) but it just not be enough to justify getting investor income into your ideologies...

    2003-2004 SPY 30min intra-day data?

Does anybody have a 30min intra-day data set for SPY (etf spider s&p500) for 2003-2004....I just need it for that one year time-frame, and only that particular dataset, so it's not really cost efficient to go out and buy a subscription just for that. I'd be SUPER grateful if anybody had that...

    Mutual Fund Free Historical Quotes

i ran into the same problem - and if you're looking for, say, 200mutual funds, you'd be damn retarded to go to each fund family's website and manually pull it off - you need something like Yahoo's historical dl, but for mutual funds slight problem - look up something in it like agf's...

    Gathering mutual fund historical data?

yea, but see, if there are 200funds I want data for, I'm not going to be doing that.....I just want to punch it up and download it :p Like here, let's say you go to yahoo and pull up the agf asian growth - AGC*ASI.TO there's no historical data available for it. Hmmmm.

    Gathering mutual fund historical data?

Is anybody aware of a similar service that's free, like yahoo finance, where you can gather historical mutual fund information? I mean, if you want closed-end fund info, it's as easy as popping the symbol into yahoo and taking the stuff - but mutual funds....no idea....like if I wanted the...

    Tradestation and SQL problem

I have my database in MySQL, and when I'm ready to use it in tradestation, i export it out as an ASCII file so TS can read it. I use the following command: select date, open, high, low, close, volume into outfile 'c:/pf/data/cef.database/nox' fields terminated by ',' lines terminated...

Trading as a Business - Charlie Wright

Does anybody know where to get that book? I remember reading it when i first started off as a futures analyst, and I would like to add it to my collection. I know ET has the online print version - http://www.elitetrader.com/tr/index.cfm?s=17 - but i'd like the actual paperback. Can't find it...

    TradeStation 8 vs. 2000i

stupid question - tradestation 2000i, how do I put my own symbols into the global server so I can use radar screen? I thought the only way it worked is if you download the stuff in it from historybank.com but after reading this thread I'm getting the feeling you can somehow manually import your...
