None of the above. I would never give my personal finances over to anybody. If you don't know how to manage them yourselves, stick it all in GICs/CDs. That > giving somebody else control.

I miss the good old days. I was only like 15 or 16 and making $10,000/week......no money management or any type of strategy, just randomly buying based on the last tick - I remembe wondering why people bothered to work if you could gross 10k/week with almost no effort in the market....then...

Read what I said - I said I wouldn't risk MY PERSONAL CAPITAL in the market. Yes, I can build models and trade the market, but would I put my personal capital into it - like your friend, too much emotional stake; with clients I have no worries - I"m a very risk-adverse individual. Oh well...

Sorry, your post made it sound like you were the typical l33t ET internet trader who was ready to start their own fund w/o knowing 1 thing about it :p But seriously, how can you make 1.7M in 1 year (which i'd say is pretty damn good for 1trader on personal capital) and not know hedge fund...

yes, and near useless. Every experiences I"ve had with them (both in terms of finance, option modelling, and swing price modelling in the electricity industry) has shown me that they require insane amounts of resources to construct/maintain, and give no advantage to simpler methodologies.

I just wrote a PHP/MySQL script - PHP downloads the necessary files, MySQL formats them and chucks them into an ascii directory that TS2kI pulls from.

Are there any good online resources that talk about scalping (e..g, favorite brokers, tools, etc....)? I've been thinking of getting into it for a few hours just for the hell of it so I have something to do at night (Versus spending 2hrs playing Oblivion ^_^ ) .

i believe in the good ol' buy higher exit higher; you may not get the best price but atleast it's a decent setup&entry. Worked far better for me over the years than trying to get it right at the bottom.
