OMFG European Banks in Germany and Holland refuse US dollar

how does IB handle FX trades??

No. IB charges .2 basis points (0.00002) commission for each trade. The 2.5 is a minimum and not a plus. Thus, if you trade above 125k lots than you can just add 0.4 pip to the spread.

Big rate cut proping up markets

You're presuming that rates can go only to 0%. Watching the Fed throwing money at Wall Street like they have the past few months, I'd say they will introduce a "Wall Street big bank borrowing facility" or WS-BBB-FU at -10%, just to keep the liquidity. Retailers will of course be paying the...

    The business of Trading

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A TAX LAWYER, AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, OR SOMEONE WITH ANY LEVEL OF SYMPATHY TOWARDS THE 'AMERICAN SYSTEM'. I DO NOT LIVE, WORK, FUCK, OR ANYTHING IN THE U.S., I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT AMERICAN LAWS AND EFFING TAX REGULATIONS REQUIRE YOU TO DO, NOR SHOULD I HAVE...

    IB Margin?!

Hurricane & OldTrader: Of course, I've seen these links, but thanks anyways. There's nothing that would mention how the 'exchange rate' is calculated for margin purposes. Right now I'm at a point where I haven't found anything intelligible that could refute/confirm the claim of IB being a...

    IB Margin?!

MandelbrotSet: I was fearing nobody knew. Simultaneously to my OP I also posted the question to IB in the form of a trouble ticket. Sofar ET has much better CS for IB than IB itself, but who's surprised? riskymove: PDT doesn't apply to me since I don't trade American equities. I have...

Carry Trade Pairs as leading/lagging indicator for the indices

Ooops... http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EURUSD=X&t=5y&l=on&z=l&q=l&c=%5EGSPC http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EURJPY=X&t=5y&l=on&z=l&q=l&c=%5EGSPC I guess approx. half of the S&P's performance is due to the ever weakening dollar, that is weakening with the yen. So why would a hedge fund...

    IB Margin?!

Hm. Well over a hundred views and nobody seems to know about this issue. Or care. Is it because: a) nobody knows b) nobody cares c) nobody understands the previous post.

    IB Margin?!

Soo... Can anyone explain to me how IB's margin requirements work on IDEALPRO? The reason I ask is when I click on 'Account' in TWS I see 'Available for Trading' bouncing all over the place. For example right now it quotes me a JPY/EUR exchange rate of 0.00618 the equivalent of 161.81 EUR/JPY...

    Is this a stupid idea?

1/ IB charges 3.5% on funds borrowed in excess 1 mio USD. The balance below it is 4% and the 1st 100,000 is 4.5%. 2/ You see the yen carries crowded, so you want to enter EUR/USD _long_?! At historic highs? All for a perceived _1.5%_ _yearly_ interest advantage? Think this through...

Will there ever be a regulated forex retail market?

If you're talking about the Reuters/CME venture then its called FXMarketSpace. But am really looking forward to how this one will play out. I don't think it'll blow the current established players out of the water, but some old fashion competition for lil' old me (and my wallet) would never...

    Eur/usd

Then hush, and listen to him... :p On the comment side, if you're attributing the euro's strength to the 10 new members joining the EU, you're wrong. The 10 together give what, about 2% of the EU's GDP? A blip in the German economy has far more consequence for the euro than cataclysmic events...
