    Thinking of buyign some books

Rich dad; poor dad is not really applicable to what you need here. It is a nice read and inspirational, but I would be very selective about what I fill my mind with since you will need to absorb a lot to get going with trading.

    Thinking of buyign some books

I strongly suggest you focus your attention on the mental game. I don't know where you are in your development, but Trading in the Zone and Brett Steenbarger's latest book are a must. Once you have that figured out, ANY methodology or approach to trading can work.

POLL: What is the Most Important Thing in Trading?

Nice poll. Some or many of the topics work together. Your edge can exist in money management, etc.

    My Problem

I agree... Steenbarger is much more hands on as far as trading. I'm very impressed with this guy.

    My Problem

Your main issue is that you have a need to be right. This is a good way to experience a lot of frustration, anger, depression, etc. This is normal for most traders. However, one way or another you will learn that losses are something you can USE to your advantage and they are a necessary part of...

    dsl speed needed.

It depends on if you have Level 2 data to your DOM's. How many DOM's you have. If you are sharing the connection with anyone. I would say that on most days, you will be fine. However, if there is a strong move or sudden release that causes a lot of ticks to come through, then you will find a...

Running a monitor as an extra screen with my notebook

I find this comment kind of odd. In my mind, you need the same setup for sim as you do for live trading. You don't want to sim one way and then go live another way. As a coach would say, you practice as hard as you would play the real game.

Running a monitor as an extra screen with my notebook

This assumes that windows has recognized that the monitor port in the back of your notebook is active. If the above suggestion doesn't work, then you need to take an extra step: Look for a key combination on your keyboard that will enable that second monitor port. It looks like Fn+F5 or Fn+F6...

    Anekdoten: An ET Mentor

That correct. You can keep adding to your position and maintain and average on the position that is below a stop point. You have to use some parameters for this. You obviously can't just keep adding until the market turns; although some do with some restrictions. Also, the market being "mean...

    Anekdoten: An ET Mentor

You need to put your statement and tests in context of the time frame being traded. Trading is always about putting things into context but having an eye on the big picture. Averaging up is a killer way to make a good trade perform better after banking some profit.

    Managed Account Tax Burden

I use the IB Advisor account system for my fund. Every subaccount gets its own tax documents and is under the control of the account holder. I just take the positions and make the market moves and they get the tax bill. Problem solved. I don't have to do anything for billing either. I get a set...

vista not compatible with matrox 450

A backed up the Vista setup and then did a complete reformat for WinXP Pro. I usually do a complete reformat 2x per year anyway. I don't have a link for switching and I avoid dual boot for the disk space it takes and the complications that might arise. I just keep it simple.

vista not compatible with matrox 450

I got it with a new machine... killed it almost immediately!!! Not compatible with X-Trader or any high end trading platforms. Major memory hog. Too much glitz and not enough in the way of practicality. The menus and navigation was so annoying. Dump it and go to XP Pro.... much more solid.

    Spydertrader, question for you

So where does this all fit as far as Trader Psychology. Why post it here? This is the only forum I subscribe to for new threads all of the rest have been infected with this crap. Take it up with Baron directly.

    Spydertrader, question for you

So let me get this straight.... you are using the PSYCHOLOGY forum to argue with someone who runs a journal in the JOURNALS forum. All this criticism is done by people who have signed up in the last week? Come on guys.... stop flinging shit every where on this board. The psychology forum was...

And I once thought trading was TOO risky...

You are correct. The speed is not staged but that is not the big challenge here. The challenge is navigating traffic and the unpredictability of the other drivers. There are a few scenes where the other drivers are lined up in a way that gave a clear path for the Z3 to push through. Not all of...

And I once thought trading was TOO risky...

Staged run as far as I can tell. Too many perfect camera angles, etc. Also, I raced cars for a very short period in Europe. I can tell you that the guy in the Z3 is not your average traffic violator.

70% correct prediction, frozen, can't pull triger to make a trade.

I agree with Don and the other comments here. Very constructive. I think the main reason for feeling the way you do is that you are not accepting the risk. You have to bet money that you can lose in order to make a gain. This goes for trading the same way it goes for paying for a movie (pay...
