I've done it. It proves nothing. According to your logic... If I can randomly generate a chart that looks like the chart that plots your waking and sleeping hours of the day, then you wake and sleep at random. Then build an experiment on top of it and that makes it valid now?

My first guess is that volume profile and value areas are simply the bell curve of normal distribution. But, it sounds interesting and I guess if you wanted to test some ideas it would make a good exercise. Go at it. It's lots of work. But, in my opinion that's what it takes to build some...
