    S/R Emini Journal

Was this just luck today due to it being hit when you opened up your charts? The bounce off R at the open fell through. The second break around 0940 didn't go anywhere. It wasn't until the third attempt a few minutes later that 1270 was hit again. So I assume that any other attempt other than...

    "W" pattern and "WM" pattern

A W is a bottoming pattern. An M is a topping pattern. What you have here is an upwardly-trending channel.

Fail this question you should give up trading

It isn't that everyone is so puzzled as that the question is incomplete, which suggests that he heard it somewhere but didn't remember all the conditions, much like the person who tells a joke he heard but leaves out everything that makes the punchline funny. The "obvious" answer appears to...

Fail this question you should give up trading

Sir Ernest Rutherford, President of the Royal Academy, and recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics, related the following story: Some time ago I received a call from a colleague. He was about to give a student a zero for his answer to a physics question, while the student claimed a perfect...

Whatever gave you the idea that illegals make minimum wage?

Who had and solved problem of fighting the trend?

Making sense, as usual. I hope the thread originator is paying attention.

Why oh why can't I stick to my plan ?

Depends on what you need. I also found it excellent.

Paper Trading Vs The Real Deal

jho, if it makes sense to you and you find it useful, what difference does it make what anybody else thinks? If it makes no sense to you and you don't find it useful, then don't do it. If it's necessary for you to get permission to do something by gauging consensus opinion, you're in the...

IB - PLEASE stop those new "features"

Not suggesting multiple versions, just two. Then those who don't mind updating drivers and getting more memory and reconfiguring whatever can experience all the joys they feel in doing so.

IB - PLEASE stop those new "features"

Thanks to both of you. Perhaps 856 will be enough. As for IB, rather than spend so much time arguing about this, I see no reason why they can't provide a "basic" version for those who couldn't care less about all the add-ons and a "loaded" version for those who want every bell and every whistle.

    Trading in the Zone

Well, yes. Why would anyone who's consistently successful and meeting all of his goals bother with reading a book like this, unless he just loves reading books on trading and markets? TITZ is an excellent book. If it can help him find his way, why discourage him from giving it a try?

IB - PLEASE stop those new "features"

Without getting into the argument, I'd also like to go back to the previous version. Can anyone explain how I go about doing that? As far as I can tell, the file was overwritten.

Paper Trading Vs The Real Deal

Paper-trading is a form of testing (those who say it's useless either don't understand what it's supposed to do or how to do it properly or both). If you jump into "real" trading with nothing more than what seems like a good idea, you'll most likely be broke before you ever gain traction...

Paper Trading Vs The Real Deal

It's useful for the experienced as well, particularly when the market shifts and adaptations that are more than minor are necessary. When my results begin to differ significantly from what I expect them to be and I make modifications, I always paper-trade them for a day or so before trading them...

Paper Trading Vs The Real Deal

If you're discretionary, paper-trading isn't going to do you much (any) good. The point of PT is to determine whether or not you have a strategy that MIGHT work in real time. If you have no strategy -- i.e., a fully-tested consistently profitable strategy -- beyond trading what looks good and...

Price Action. Please clarify something for me

There is no maximum number of posts per day. And the issue is not whether people are willing to answer your questions. The issue is the adequacy of your preparation, and if you're planning on learning everything you need to know from message boards, you're going to be in big trouble. So, I...

Price Action. Please clarify something for me

No offense intended, but you began this thread with "please clarify something for me" and you're working toward 200 posts, which suggests that you are instead looking for multi-mentoring. How much preparation have you done for all this? What have you read? What have you studied? How have you...

Price Action. Please clarify something for me

You're missing the point. Trading doesn't stop and start with the beginning and ending of a bar, regardless of how the bar is displayed. It flows. If you want to catch the "beginning" of a move, you look for changes in the flow. Do "we all" wait for the close of a bar or whatever? No. But...

Price Action. Please clarify something for me

True. The "bar" is completely irrelevant. All that matters is the price flow. How one displays it has nothing to do with that flow. The candles that so many people make so much of, for example, exist only in the time interval which is chosen to display them. Thus a parabolic move in one...

Price Action. Please clarify something for me

Actually, it may slow down or not, but will then most often turn, test the most recently-made swing point, then resume the move. Which is why buying higher lows and selling lower highs is surer than trying to pick tops and bottoms.
