Most noobies lose money, but that is exactly what they should do

Agree with most here apart from the JH-gibberish: I discourage anyone who considers trading by themselves. Demo is for learning software, or at the maximum to develop a slight feel for a particular market. It takes real cash to get in touch with your feelings vs losing money and...

Sarah Palin is Being Hidden From The Press

Wow, you sure must be a hotshot debater. When wrong, bark louder, offend and swear. Does that make you profitable when trading? Maybe it worked on the floor for you, with the big boys club and a monopoly to fill orders. Just because you and other idiots "think" the media is left-wing doesn't...

Sarah Palin is Being Hidden From The Press

You haven't learned to read yet? He wrote AMERICANS should demand it, not the media. Uhm, yeah - the media is usually thought of as a public watchdog. It is somewhat more practical with a few media interviews than meeting millions in person for q&a don't you think.

How to go long US 3-month T-Bills vs US 3-month LIBOR spread

I don't trade much interest rate futures, but now I want to take a position in the 3m T-bills vs US 3-month LIBOR. Could anyone let me know how to size it and which contracts to use? I don't suppose there's an exchange-traded combo on CME, but have to be legged into?

Chance of a crash on Monday

crashes are a thing of the past - fully electronic exchanges has trading curbs and limits that simply won't allow a market to trade down that much (2000 DJIA downmove in a day). Sure you can easily see a minus 4 percent day, but I think the absolute maximum you could see is 7-8% to the downside...

    Funny stuff on IDEALPRO

Ah, not using the FX Trader either - using TWS. I am a DOM-man myself, and unfortunately in the FX world there's an abundance of "poor" (imho) order entry platforms.

    Funny stuff on IDEALPRO

I like trading on IDEALPRO, but there's this thing that's been bugging me recently: The great thing with an ECN like IDEALPRO is that you participate in the market and can trade against other customer orders, not just the banks (or THE bank in case of a dealing desk). But in the volatile...

Is it possible to earn on a life working on forex

Agree with cabletrader. Currency pairs move not because of speculation (alone), but because of interest rates and the health of the economies involved. If you want to look at it as zero sum, then the other side of your trade is the taxpayers, government, real estate market and corporations...

TT as a automated trading platform

There's a plugin called Spread Driver which basicly works as Autotrader for spreads in Autospreader. Use Excel to feed into Spread Driver.

    ECN broker for managed accounts

This might be a good option for me, it's just that I have zero experience with prime brokers and don't really know what to expect in terms of market/execution, pricing of their service/financing and also what their minimums are. I think both IB and HSFX offer give-ups to a prime broker - does...

    ECN broker for managed accounts

Yes, that's right. I only mentioned it since I've heard various things regarding Currenex as an ECN and then banks having a last look option and you're left hanging or unfilled on a quoted price.

    ECN broker for managed accounts

You're right, size is very relevant: Account minimum 50k usd, AUM about 500k usd, clip size between 1m and 10m depending on strategy on whether it's a short-term or medium-term trade. I definitely prefer tradable quotes, which is exactly what you're getting with an ECN and not with a...

    ECN broker for managed accounts

Thanks for your input, and yes you're right: Backoffice support is very important for managing accounts. Much appreciated.

    ECN broker for managed accounts

I am shopping around for an FX ECN broker to use for managing accounts - currently looking at IB, HotSpotFX and Dukascopy. The first imperative is absolutely no requotes whatsoever, even during news or some black swan incident. A market maker's failure to be on top of his game shouldn't cause...

    Excel Automation

Excel 2007 is supposedly multi-threaded and supports multi-core cpus, so it should work a lot better with high-frequency data. I haven't tested the difference, but use it with TT and Autotrader and to my naked eye it's instant.
