    Prop firms' strategies

As far as arb between the pit SP contract and the mini, yes it does happen, all day everyday, especially during slow times of the day. During big runs it can get a bit difficult to do unless you are on the right side of the direction, as the mini will often move further and "push" the pit...

Does IB support pit sessions in US futures ?

no...you'll have to go through a broker that clears through a floor firm. (RCG, RJO, Man, Newedge, Cadent, Fimat, Prud, etc). As far as getting pit data for charts, go with either DTN ProphetX or CQG.

    Charts with minimal lag?

CQG or DTN ProphetX...can't beat 'em....pricey, but rock solid.

    Real Time or Not?

First off, I am NOT a computer guy at all....I know how to use it, but I get all of my computers built/supported, and trading systems programmed offsite. Now for the questions: I just put a new computer into my network. It is just a trading comp, but occasional internet use may occur, as...

Trading is "easier" after that first (or big) big $$ winning trade

I disagree, after my first "big" win, I actually blew out! I progressed "normally" my first year...taking small gains and small losses...not really getting anywhere. On my first really "big" win, I made a substantial amount, around 5x my normal gain. After this, I tended to trade for the...

    PhalanX - Real Time S&P 500 Predictions

RiskyShift: great thread. Don't let anybody tell you your system is worthless...thats what these threads are for, to help figure this out and to improve on ideas/methods, etc. I will be following your progress, even though I am not a mechanical trader at all. One observation though: it...

    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

ok...no more warnings. I will give you this advice if you are dead-set on trading crude futures. WATCH THE ROLLS! If I were you, I would simply specialize and trade the rolls...learn how the rolls trade in both contango and non-contango markets, and how seasonals and supply/demand issues...

    Never Traded Futures: Advice?

crude futures are an animal all their own. Watch how they trade for many months before putting up your own money. To get a "feel" for futures I'd start with something a lot less "whippy", say corn or hogs. Or if you just want to trade intra-day, something like the treasuries, which are...

PLEASE VOTE AGAINST THE BILL H.R. 1068-link enclosed

YIKES!! I read this...just must not have "sunk in"...sheesh..if I missed that imagine what all the senators missed in the stimulus bill...oh wait...everything...they didn't read it at all. Anyway...thanks for setting me straight guys...its been a long day I guess!

PLEASE VOTE AGAINST THE BILL H.R. 1068-link enclosed

I don't trade equities, just futures, but I signed anyway...we all have to stick together imo. Thanks for the heads up!

Any Recommendations for Lawyers Experienced in Trade Related Disputes?

Hmm..interesting point. My account representative actually RECOMMENDED I liquidate the trade, as there was a probability for a large move against me with the index futures trading as they were (he was correct about this). At the time I surmised this HAD to be an issue with my front-end, so I...

Any Recommendations for Lawyers Experienced in Trade Related Disputes?

kxvid: I don't want to comment on either which brokerage firm I'm using, or which front end I'm using in this particular case until the issue is resolved...don't want to spread bad press about a firm unless its proved and warranted.

Any Recommendations for Lawyers Experienced in Trade Related Disputes?

No...luckily I don't owe them...in fact still have a sizeable amount of money with them. This didn't affect my ability (financially speaking) to trade at all...it was no worse than taking losses on a few trades in fact, but why and how it happened is my concern. Also, only have access to the...

Any Recommendations for Lawyers Experienced in Trade Related Disputes?

the loss is enough to make it worthwhile. I may not come out very much ahead after legal fees....but they way I've been getting treated (everyone pointing fingers and in total CYA mode), has me wanting to pursue this just to nail the damn liar. But mostly, I DO want to make sure that this...

Any Recommendations for Lawyers Experienced in Trade Related Disputes?

just an update. After talking to my tech guys, I may also need to include my broker in this legal action. Basically me vs anybody and everybody now. Is this too much to bite off?

Any Recommendations for Lawyers Experienced in Trade Related Disputes?

hey guys, I have a current issue between myself / my broker vs my trading front-end company regarding a trade that showed up in my account that I never entered, and in fact COULDN'T enter, as the trade size would not have been allowed by my broker's risk management department because it was...

Bear Market is Over! GO long S&P 500!

hmm...I have to disagree with the numbers. COT data shows large spec is net short, and small spec is net long (in a BIG way too). Unless my Rueters news package delivered me the wrong weekly COT numbers, thats what it shows.

    Largest commercial participants?

"commercial" has different meanings depending on what pit your in. S&P "commercial" will look a lot like Golman, Merrill, etc, whereas in corn/beans etc, "commerical" is more along the lines of hedgers....ala...ADM, Bunge, etc, but the big "players" that come across doing the big volume are...

Trade Showing Up That Was Never Made

were you using a 3rd party front end or your broker's? My broker is telling me they've isolated the problem to either my Ninja Trader execution platform (I run two seperate ones) or just a mess up at Globex...but I strongly doubt that Globex is the problem. Meanwhile, we've opened up an...
