    Can someone explain the new SEC Margin Rules ??

    I read somewhere that the margin rules were changed. For example, If you go long on an equity and you buy protective puts the margin requirment is no longer 50%. Now it supposed to be the put premium ? Is anywhere familiar with the new rules and explain them in plain english ?
