    At what price BP?

I'm not sure what your point is by posting this link. You said in one post that it would hit $40 and in another that BP was an "Avoid". There's nothing more useless than a stock recommendation by someone who doesn't back it with their own money, let alone someone who plays both side of the trade.

An open honest discussion on the state of Ninjatrader 7

Goodgoing, you have a point. If you don't trust trading platforms because you believe they will steal your algorithms, then that is your prerogative. As I pointed out, platforms like NT or TS are good for most retail traders, but it's not for everyone. As you mentioned, however, there is...

An open honest discussion on the state of Ninjatrader 7

The one thing I hate is know-it-all programmers that think "if I didn't build it myself, it sucks". In fact, if he was so great, why would he bother using IB's API when he could write to the FIX protocol directly, right? Yeah, I thought so. Sure there are things that I don't like about...

An open honest discussion on the state of Ninjatrader 7

One guy I've been following switched over to NT7 for his daily automated trading a few months back, and it was a nightmare for him. I'm not sure if he's still on NT7 or if he rolled back to 6.5. The type of trading he was doing wasn't very complicated at all, which had me a bit worried...

An open honest discussion on the state of Ninjatrader 7

This is a stupid comment. NT is a great, convenient platform to develop on. It's also "stable" and has "minimum delays". Unless you're trying to HFT, I don't see how NT introduces any meaningful delays. Trying to build your own trading platform on an broker's API would be a waste of time...

ETF that tracks Case-Shiller Home price index?

Thanks for the link, I didn't realize there were futures contracts based on the CSI. I'll have to look into it, although the volume is basically 0 from what I could tell. I googled an ETF that existed in 2009, DMM and UMM, but I guess it just stands for "DUMb", because it folded in 6 months...

ETF that tracks Case-Shiller Home price index?

I'm getting fxcking killed with my condo, it has dropped by 40% in the past 3 years. I want to sell, but I'm way too underwater and because of the nature of my job, I can't afford to take a hit to my credit so I can't walk away. Is there an ETF that tracks the Case Shiller home index so that...

    At what price BP?

Actually Whitney Tilson of T2, says the exact opposite. People speculated that litigation would kill Merck in 2004 because of Vioxx, but in fact they settled most lawsuits for much smaller than anticipated because these days the courts are very business-friendly. "Based on speculation that...

    WPO and bids and asks

Although it's unlikely anyone has them, it would be interesting to see the bids and asks as it doubled to 920. I wonder if HFT algos were the cause of this, since it seems weird that this could occur. I guess the circuit breakers don't quite work as intended yet?

    At what price BP?

Robert, that sucks, I feel for you. I got into BP around the same time as you, near the beginning of this thread. I got 1000 shares @ $37, but I also bought some put protection, I bought 11 July puts with a strike of $40. In total I'm down about $1100, but considering I should be down about...

    At what price BP?

I bought 1000 shares at around $37 and 10 put contracts @ 40. I'll hold this dog for 1 month and then see where we are. I'm willing to take no profits between here and $45 to get BP at these prices and this dividend yield. If we haven't recovered to at least $45 in a month, then I'm outtie...

    At what price BP?

My question is, will they cut the dividend? If they don't, then I don't care wtf price they go to, I'm getting almost 8% dividend. I just don't know whether they will cut or not, to preserve cash. If they don't, this is a screaming buy for me anyway.

TA can't predict that a large order will be placed now and not in 15 min, 1 hour, etc

Brakes in a car won't help you if a tractor trailer smashes you from the side. Conclusion: Brakes are worthless. Brakes are only recommended by auto dealers who want to increase costs for repair by forcing you to change them every 30,000 miles.

dang whats going on with the futures?

I agree with you, in that if they wanted to solve the problem they would have starved North Korea until there was a civil uprising/military coup. The thing is that South Korea doesn't want to necessarily absorb North Korea. The citizens of North Korea would probably overwhelm all the major...

dang whats going on with the futures?

I agree. There will never be war in Korea. The North Korean generals have it too good. They are literally the top dogs in the entire country. Why would they want to engage in a war they know they can't win? They might have a large army, but their weapons are outdated, and they won't...

dang whats going on with the futures?

Yeah, it's really weird action. -140 in the afterhours is unusual, especially after such a sharp sell off at the close. I still remember last week with an overnight reversal from -120 and then another reversal that day, which made me think we would bounce, but the selling has been relentless...

dang whats going on with the futures?

Down pretty heavy afterhours, -120 on the YM... but I don't remember reading anything out of the ordinary. Any clues on what's going on? Is it just reacting to the euro being at 1.23? On another note, is anyone else predicting an overnight reversal due to the European markets, leading to a...

    Broker that supports HSI future

I'm very interested in this thread, but I'm a bit confused. I have an IB account and I trade HSI. I'm based in the US. 1) When I place my trades, are the trades not being sent to the HK servers? What is the path of execution when I currently place a trade? 2) Does connecting directly...

If the odds are 50/50 why do most people lose ?

Most traders are risk adverse with their profits and risk-taking with their losses. I read this in Market Wizards. Basically that means, when you have a profit, you are more apt to cut the trade short, whereas if you have a loser, you are more apt to risk your current losses in "hopes" that...

    Taleb on Bloomberg

First off, I feel bad for Taleb. He spent years of his life writing a book trying to show people the philosophy that you need to prepare for singular disasters that could come from nowhere. It's a profound view on the world, and unfortunately, those morons on CNBC distill it to meaning every...
