Puffygums, How are you so familiar with the MGEX? Are you a trader there? Can you share with us any insight? Thanks

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

The argument that Pimco will move to Swaptions on the screen it ridiculous. Pimco will use whatever the cheapeast and easiest method of executing their position is. They could use swaptions now, and likely do for some trades. All they have to do is call any New York Investment Bank's trading...

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

Familiar with efficient markets? Size affects prices in efficient markets. Also, wasn't Soros' broker to blame for screwing up his order?

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

In further support of Maverick, were any of you around during the Crash of 87? Because if you were, you'd know that every market maker in New York decided to turn of their Nasdaq screens, take their phone off the hook, and stop making markets. Chicago may not be perfect, but its far better than...

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

CFTC has no jurisdiction on the licenses of the indexes. Dow Jones had license over Dow Jones, Standard & Poors over the S&P, and Nasdaq over the Nasdog. Please keep the collusion talk coming. The importance of laughter is being recognized by the medical profession every day.

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

I also agree with Maverick on the power of the floor. A friend of mine just began trading on the floor of the Merc. His pit is so crowded he can't even trade from the pit yet. He trades on the floor from the center of the pit, not inside the pit. Yeah, the floor must be dead.

    eminis vs. S & P

Tea, Try to think about this for a minute. How could pit traders watch the mini price in the pit??? Have you ever seen the S&P Pit? Do you think that they all huddle around 1 or 2 monitors watching prices of the mini? Get real.

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

Eurex can't offer any S&P, Nasdaq, or Dow contracts as these licenses are exclusively offered by the exchanges that trade them.

I'm not sure about this, but I've heard of people use a book by Granville? It's older but I think many still refer to it. I'd be curious to see some great books on the grains if anyone know them. Alot of grain traders have experience on farms. Not the scalpers but the traders. They seem to be...

    eminis vs. S & P

E minis don't lead. But the mini prices are reported instantly, while there is a 1-2 second delay for the SPOO's while their prices are entered. This gives the appearance that they lead, but they don't. It's good to be aware of this one. Dont be fooled by this one.

    Corn futures

I think they trade at different times but not sure. I don' t think electronic is open for the four hours the open outcry is open but double check.

    PIMCO on Floor Vs. Screen

The emini's aren't proof that the screen will conquer! If that were the case SPOO volume would be declining year over year. It's not. In fact it actually grew in the past year. As Maverick said, the emini is a different market than the SPOO. It's targeted towards the at home day trader. It...

    Trading grains

If you have any other questions on grains, feel free to post them. Once had some experience on the CBOT grain floor, but never did any grain trading myself. Hope I help. As far as now being a good time to trade grains, I couldn't agree more. Don't follow them very closely myself, but I know...

Leasing a seat on the CBOT or CME

Hey Tea, I believe the CME purchased the exclusive rights to the S&P 500 from Standard & Poors. Therefore, I don't think anyone else could list the S&P futures. Also, I believe CME owns the rights to the Fortune 500 name and index as well. My two cents.

Leasing a seat on the CBOT or CME

I agree that the screen is taking on greater importance. But by marketing your system in the same post, it really reduces your credibility and increases your bias. Although I appreciate your posts, why don't you try to not sell so heavily.

As for the poster who says the MGEX leases are $50/month, where did you find this, I can't seem to find a lease price on the MGEX. I'm assuming this means none are available right now.
