Why is SPY trailing the SP500 Index

Better check your numbers. SPY was up 29.69% and SPX was up 29.60%.

    Notification of Large Trader ID

More bureaucratic stupidity from the SEC. Worthless and useless data is being collected for no valid purpose. And we have to pay for this nonsense. aaarrrggg aaarrrggg aaarrrggg ! The rule uses the stock price to value option trades and not the option price. "Ex. Customer trades 200...

Anyone can explain this WTI backwardation?

You are not looking at the market the right way. It is not so much current tightness creating the backwardation as future increased production from North Dakota and Texas pushing future prices lower. As far as the spring and summer months, do you bother to read industry news? What has...

    Tax Question

How do you know that you won't lose $10K in the IRA and make $10K in the taxable account? Better yet, why don't you just make $10K in each account? ES/YM make a better pair than ES/NQ. I just try to make money in all my accounts.

No BIGGIE, CME fees up in 2014

What "Volume going down"? In the 3rd quarter CME contract volume was up 13% from 2012. In the first 9 months volume was up 9% from 2012. If the CME wants more growth in volume they should lower their already steep fees.

market data and order execution with Java

Interactive Brokers has a Java API and supports Windows and Linux. They also have a FIX CTCI API. There is a Yahoo group for IB API discussion. http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/TWSAPI/info There is a 3rd party Python hook to the IB API. Look at IbPy: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/ib...

any option firms for fixed rate transactions?

How do you think a broker is going to make money doing your 1,000 or 10,000 lot for a flat fee? All the 10 cent a contact brokers and most of the other cheap brokers sell your order flow. What kind of fill do you think you get when your order is sold? I won't even mention what the market...

Rithmic's R | Trader Pro™ Now Accepts Orders Directly Through Microsoft Office Excel

If you really want traders to use the Rithmic API you would make the API documentation publicly available. Is a Rithmic simulator available for API testing? Are API code samples available? Is a Java API in the works?

IB Symbol Problems - MSFT, INTC, CSCO

You're welcome. Glad that my post helped you out. I only posted because I know that many IB customers use QuoteTracker for charting.

IB Symbol Problems - MSFT, INTC, CSCO

Always something weird from the IB API. For QuoteTraker users ISLAND:MSFT and BATS:MSFT work. MSFT and NASDAQ:MSFT do not work. Same for CSCO and INTC. IBKR and other NASDAQ symbols work as they always have without an exchange modifier.

IB using "rounding" to screw clients with borrow fees

I will agree that the specified rounding policy is not reasonable for low priced stocks. Your choices are to not short low priced stocks at IB or to use another broker.

IB using "rounding" to screw clients with borrow fees

What disguise? IB has always made clear that they own Timber Hill and that the brokerage business started on the backbone of the market making business. The IB brokerage business rules the roost. For the first 9 months the brokerage business revenue and profits were $602 million and...

IB using "rounding" to screw clients with borrow fees

Another IB is the evil empire thread. I had no problem finding this information in the IB "About Stock Borrow/Loan" documentation. Things are even worse than you stated as you left out the 102% multiplier. IB clearly states: "The borrower is responsible for the daily borrow fee and for...

Options Trader Bets $16.6 Million on 9% S&P 500 Rally

No, I don't know what you meant. I can only go by what you actually said in your post. There is over a 50% difference between 33 and 50 points a month. 1902 at expiration is a losing trade. 1970 at expiration is a very nice winner. You don't care what the exact numbers are, but the...

Broker doesn't show commission in website but charged me $900 more!!!

Broker XXX !!! I always stay away from brokers that are triple X. You should have obtained a copy of the commission schedule before you opened the account. And what do you mean "I just found they charged me more than $900 commission in one month" ? At any broker I know of you see the...

    Es Futures Order Fills

ES trades on Globex in a FIFO queue at each price level. Just look at the DOM before you put in your limit order to see how many contracts are ahead of you at that price level. During RTH each price level on the ES DOM normally has between 1,000 to 2,000 contracts on each side. New...

Options Trader Bets $16.6 Million on 9% S&P 500 Rally

Better look at those SPX numbers again. October 2013 close 1,756.54. December 2012 close 1,426.19. That is 330.35 or 33 points a month for the first 10 months of 2013. 1770 plus 4 times 33 is only 1902, short of 1925.

cheapest to do Option Spreads. size 50

Do you really understand the risk of naked options? In an IRA at IB you are allowed long and short futures and long and short futures options. You can't do naked short SPY options, but you can do naked short ES options. IB charges $1.42 a contract for ES options (first 1000 sides a month).
