I leg in a lot. Like all other things, you win some and lose some. On balance in today's options markets (unlike back in 1980s -lol) I think it makes sense on smaller size.

I trade GS all year, every week. But I paid my dues to gain knowledge of how the traders move GS; I am willing to sell this knowledge for a monthly retainer of a % of options gains. lol

+1 and patience as an option trader in weekly and monthly patience has served me well. I often take delivery as well and almost always the underlying reverts.

why buy a higher call? Either 1. sell for loss and open higher ATM or ITM puts in back month 2. sell higher strike put for July and create backspread - then "hope" underlying trades a lot lower. 3. sell current position and buy smaller quantity of Aug/Sept so that you get 'some'...
