    Foreign Debt Broker/Dealer?

So if I could humbly request that you take a moment to educate me, I don't understand the calculations. 1. How did you arrive at 5% with higher credit risk? You completely lost me on the math here. In my mind, I can simply buy a Brazilian T bond and collect my almost 11% on a 7-year...

Bill maturity dates in Dec vs Jan? Interest on tax due?

Estimated tax payments? I’m non-professional. Must individuals also make estimated payments? it may not matter for $800, but when my big bets hit I’ll have $8000000000000000, and then it will matter!

Bill maturity dates in Dec vs Jan? Interest on tax due?

Can T Bills be selected to mature in January, as opposed to December, so that tax on interest is available for investment through the entire year? Examples: 1. In 2023, Jack spends $100k on a 26w T-Bill @ 5% that matures on January 3rd, 2024. He is paid his $2,500 on said date. Assuming a 32%...

Watch out for your investments in US tech companies.

Watch out for your investments in US tech companies.

Lies. Lest you forget, in the last three years, they doubled the money supply. EFFING DOUBLED! Unless they raise rates to early-1980's levels NOTHING is dropping in price. Imagine if they somehow could create another 250 metric tons of gold... the price of AU would plunge to half its current...

    Best brokers in the business

It depends... what do you trade and how? Assuming retail trading platforms: - Fidelity is solid for all-around markets, and has a respectable fixed income offering. - Schwab is also a solid platform, and StreetSmart edge tool is helpful. No fees for US equity trades. - Interactive Brokers has...

The question may seems dumb ,

What do you mean “making losses?” Yes you pay a 4% short fee, but if you made say 20% a net gain of 16% and waiting a year is far better than paying 40%—or 8% of your profits—in capital gains tax. Holding both a long and short position is basically a perfect hedge.

That’s called shorting against the box. It’s against the rules, and can get you into hot water with The Man, because this technique can be used to lock in profits without paying taxes. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sellagainstthebox.asp

    Shorting Treasury Bonds

Has anyone here ever sourced and shorted a Treasury issue? For example: borrow a T-bond, sell it, rates increase, bond value decreases, cover for profit. Thanks, Keith

Indicators/other ideas that help predict levels.

If you can identify an algo being employed to slice a big buy or sell—like VWAP—the price level should generally hold. Example: JPM wants to buy 10000000 shares of AMD. They’ll not put the whole order out there because they’ll move the price against themselves. Instead they’ll run an algo to...
