    BioComp Dakota with Swamp Technology

I use several mechanical, NN and AI systems. What I have found is at times I have to make a decision to switch my strategies from those that work well in sideways markets (oscillator based and support/resistance strategies do well) to those that work well in trending conditions. It's not an...

Since there is a 95% Chance of You Blowing Up, you MUST Vote for this IB Poll:

Risk/Money Management tools are built right into my trading software that interfaces directly with IB. I trade from my charts. Don't need it in IB. You are quite the whiner, and the abusive language leads me to believe you got caught by the short and curleys in the recent 650 point rally.

    BioComp Dakota with Swamp Technology

In all honesty I haven't back tested simple sma systems. However, since you started this test, the Dow rallied from 12,300 to 13,100 then dropped to 10,830. That is a total move of 3070 Dow points and your system is underwater by $1,000. Seems to me there were opportunities missed, no?

James, You have been at it for 3.5 months and are down -$1,000. The Markets rallied in early April to Mid May then took a downturn to this week. A simple moving average crossover system would have outperformed the system you are using by a mile. What are you trying to prove?

James Face it, the system you are using in Biocomp sucks. It's a big time loser. Sorry

Google Finance follows Yahoo: real time datafeed

I agree. If Google was that great they would provide institutional quality real time data feed plus plugins for every technical charting and analysis software in existance, and all for free. Otherwise, what good are they?

    Security software?

I used Norton for many years, it was hell at times. Have been using the version of McAfee supplied free by my ISP for over 2 years now with absolutely no problems. FYI

Obama = 1 Trillion dollar deficit

McCain + Mitt Romney (VP) is the ticket. If McCain keels over, Romney can handle it 100%

What do you think about Jim Cramer?

A trading system can be right 45% of the time and still make very good money providing your stops are properly set and your profit per trade exceeds your loss per trade by a sufficient amount. This is not an endorsement of the "bald one". I don't follow him at all.

Do people get same results with real trading as backtesting?

I am a systems trader. I don't take trades outside my system. I just don't take all of the buy signals for the reasons I explained. Maybe take a look at your system in detail and analyse the losing and winning trades, you may find some clues there to help you identify which ones will be a...

Do people get same results with real trading as backtesting?

I get better results in actual trading vs backtesting as I avoid obvious risky trades (visually) ie..at resistance, overall market condition and direction, risk/reward etc... There are certain things you just can't code into a mechanical system effectively.
