Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

I'll vote for a point spread if they can guarantee at least a 25 point range every day.:)

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

More comprehensive hedging vehicle, not arbing. Just making an assumption though.

    I told U

I'll buy 10,000 shares tomorrow morning. Should I just buy your shares at your exit price to save you the hassle?:D

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

I'll propose that there's a minimum spread that keeps the spread traders happy, and when it gets too narrow, they will leave the arena. When the volume goes down after their departure, the spreads will widen and new spread traders will enter the market, bringing everything back into...

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

So your assumption is people that live on the spread create the liquidity in these markets? If that's true then I'd agree with your argument, but I find it hard to believe that a significant part of the volume is traders capturing the spread. Do you have data to support this?

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

I was speaking of the emini's. The ES has double the volume the NQ has (if I recollect correctly).

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

I believe it has less volume because the index it follows only has 100 stocks vs. 500 stocks for the S&P--and likewise the dow only has 30 so it will probably always lag the other two in volume significantly.

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

If .10 works for the pit traded contract, why not the electronic? I think the answer is obvious to that one. Those guys with greasy hair need as many profit centers as possible. People have to accept technology and get rid of the horse and buggy mentality and go with the Model-T or accept...

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

Lets see, 10 trades per day X 240 trading days X $7.5 = $18,000 per contract in extra cost per year. That's a nice amount to shave off per contract for a .10 spread. How many people could use an extra $18,000 profit annually per contract??? No, not me, I believe extra expenses are actually a...

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

.10 would be good. That will kill the pit real fast!!!:D :D

Say No To Thin E-mini Spread

Scalpers have no long-term viability in the ES, so screw-em in the ground I say. Make the spreads what the market will make them. Promoting inefficiency is a socialist idea.

    illegal shortsale/profit removal

It's funny how $300 blown in a trading account is nothing, but you'd never pull it out of your wallet and give it away so easy. Just like the casino mentality with the chips.

    Problem with IB buy stops

I concur with Bundlemaker. You will make up in better fill prices any downside risk in the long run (I believe). It might be milliseconds of difference in time between a stop market and stop limit's execution, but in a fast market that can be multiple ticks.

    Problem with IB buy stops

I tried a couple market stops the other day, and got a tick of slippage (unusual). The limit stops are the way to go if you can put up with the extra work.

    IB your service is terrible

That's profound qdz. If I owned IB I'd have my attorney write your parents a letter. :D

    Is that you Tonto?

Globex -- limits, stops and limit-stops

Maybe I don't understand what your saying Def, but I place Native Stop Limit orders more than 5 points away from market using IB, and haven't had a problem? I use them instead of the Stops that reside on IB servers in case IB goes down. I also set the election price and the limit price about 3...

    IB and stops

You can try to estimate the spread and then move the stop that much closer so you exit where you want.

    Good Points about IB

Nice to hear from you qdz. You bring such common sense to the flatulence around here.

    Good Points about IB

Are you talking about the Angry Black Men who Eat on the job? I've never run into one, but seldom have to call support. It's blown way out of proportion. The only straw people have to grasp is the customer service angle, and it's not that bad. As a matter of fact, their whole operation is...
