Could the U.S. central bank go broke?

I am aware that if they printed off so many dollars that hyper inflation could occur, like Germany in the 1920's. The fact is we are nowhere near that and the Fed wouldn't let that happen. In Germany the hyper inflation was caused by the ridiculous war repariations that were demanded by the...

Could the U.S. central bank go broke?

This is absolutely not true, the Fed is not an investor, they have no interest in whether or not their "portfolio" makes or loses money. Right now the Fed is worried about deflation, once deflation takes hold it is very hard to get out of the "deflationary spiral." Bernanke, as a student of...

Having Trouble with Economy Question for my Class

The fakes, the quantity and the quality will have absolutely no affect on the price of the original. If you are a billionaire and want a van goth, a high quality fake will not be an option. So when drawing the graph only the original matters, the fakes should not be represented in the graph...

Having Trouble with Economy Question for my Class

When you draw your graph supply would be a straight up and down line at q=1, because there is only one painting, hence supply is completely inelastic. The demand curve would meet the supply curve (line) at the last sold price. The demand curve should still have a downward slope, if there...

    What is managed futures funds?

Well I kind of agree with MTE.... Managed Futures is a catch all phrase for hedge funds that exclusively trade futures and/or options on futures. Also known as Commodity Trading Advisors (CTAs) or Commodity Pool Operator (CPO). Typically they are systematic trendfollowers but more and more...

What would/should the "small" investor invest in?

Why don't you just worry about the company being successful before you start worrying about the IPO. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. 5yr

What would/should the "small" investor invest in?

Oh small investors would never be front run, it makes no sense, you would only front run a large order, otherwise there wouldn't be any reason to do so. Are you going to front run an order for 100 shares with a smaller order to make a fraction of a cent? Plus its illegal so it happens much less...

What would/should the "small" investor invest in?

There are all sorts of questions in here, so I am not clear on what you are asking but wanted to clear up some assumptions you made. Small investors are typically not able to invest in IPOs and I don't think even if they were, it would be very attractive to very many. Google was on that was...

What would you choose...money or happiness?

I don't think this is fair, because I would never choose to take a pill to make me feel happy, that's not real happiness. I think a better question would be take the money and lose everything else you care about, or don't take the money be guaranteed of never being wealthy but every other of...

The Federal Reserve causes the business cycle and Ron Paul knows it

Here is the spreadsheet. This is Real GDP per capita so it takes into effect inflation. Everything else being equal a growing economy will have inflation; a shrinking economy will have deflation.

The Federal Reserve causes the business cycle and Ron Paul knows it

This isn't exactly what you asked for, but here is the Real GDP per capita every 10 years. I used 1913 as the base point. As Trefoil so astutely pointed out, other factors affect GDP other than the Fed. The data is from here: http://www.measuringworth.com/datasets/usgdp/result.php I...

The Federal Reserve causes the business cycle and Ron Paul knows it

Just because there are assets bubbles, which admittedly were missed by the Fed and were helped to inflate by the Feds policies does not mean that a little inflation is a bad thing. There are other factors that caused the housing bubble other than a low Fed Funds rate. There were assets bubbles...
