I like that as it sounds intuitively correct. The mind is a tricky thing, however.

So all market activity is "noise" to you? Interesting. I don't think I have ever "heard" anyone say that before. Looks like noise wants to move higher, imho, so does that mean it is going to get "louder" lol Good luck, B1S2!

Whenever I see one of those patterns that everyone else is also seeing, I remind myself that bots trade S/R and algorithms, not chart patterns. I trade like a bot. +10 points on half, stop at 58.50 entry on the runners with a 92 profit target. Life is good.

Came within a tick of my 1/2 at 10 points. Still holding for 1/2 at 68.50 and 1/2 at 92

Long 2658.50 3 point stop, profit target 2692 ... if this is like the last two weeks, this trade will fail and the next two days will be trend down. Below 2652 or so would change the day trader trend from up to down.

Long 71.75, 70.25 stop EDIT 10 point profit target Flat. Next area of long interest for me is 2652 - 2658.50; below 2652, not so bullish, imho

I see what you are saying B1S2, but if you were to consider the "gap" between the regular hours close and the the regular hours open, then you will have identified a first line level of support, i.e. the prior day's closing print. Also, I am not sure what you mean by "noise." What do you mean...

Imho, so long as ES is above 2649 I am by the dip today. I'd like a gap fill pullback, or even a deeper pullback into the mid- to low 2650's to buy, but am mindful of a gap and go potential trend day up as well. GTLA!

    IB good customer service

IB's customer service got much better once my commissions reached several thousand per/month. But I trade with several brokers, and I cannot complain much about any of them.

    how to understand Al Brooks

I used to place great emphasis on reward to risk ratio. I also had an unhealthy infatuation with the concept of a "free trade," where I'd take half of a position off for a minimal profit and move my stop loss to breakeven on the remain position). The result was I was largely a breakeven to...

    how to understand Al Brooks

The bigger my stop loss became, the less I lost. It took some time for me to learn that while one must cut losers short, it is possible to cut them too short, thus snuffing out a win for the sake of "keeping losses small."

    how to understand Al Brooks

Somehow I knew you'd feel that way. We will simply have to disagree, as I know my position to be true, and I can tell you are not one to let the facts get in the way of your opinion. You can join FF in the ignore universe.

    how to understand Al Brooks

I myself will not claim that I have "fully digested Brooks." I do believe that humans will long hold the edge over AI when it comes to TA pattern recognition, and this includes trendlines. And so I agree with you that it is not so simple. It was for that reason I conjectured that a programmer...

    how to understand Al Brooks

First, I do not know that it is at all correct to label it "Brooks's Theory." Secondly, I am sure it has. A programmer would probably use an ATR function to define the direction in which trades would occur, and then it would be simple to program an entry on what Brooks calls an H2.

At this point I've already taken some off. A reversal on a trend day this late in the day is unlikely barring an exogenous event. I will not likely hold over the weekend.

    ES Journal - 2017/2018

I'm all in if I can keep my stop loss to < 3 points. Over that, I will cut size and add on retraces if I am right. Or, I'll do what I did earlier where I will take a 20% position, add 30% more at a more favorable price, and then the final 50% at a point where my stop loss will be < 6 ticks...

short 67.75 average short 67.75 lol (took some small lumps on the earlier short). I hate looking like someone trying to pick a top. Over the period of time I Look back, my set up has been saying a rally and then another short. So What looks like top picking to some is really shorting a bounce...
