Good point, but the purpose of their buying is not to push the price up. The price of the stock will reflect the actual demand for the stock based upon the fund's big orders, therefore it's not being manipulated up.
Didnt know what u were getting at, what ur describing happens a lot, and is not manipulation. People often ask others to lift an offer or hit abid to move a guy outta the way. Have no idea if it is legal, I would think so.
Window dressing has nothing to do with manipulating a stock up or down. Mutual funds are just kicking out there dogs and buying better performing stocks at the end of the quarter just so it looks better to the client.
Not saying that it wuld be probable they would get caught, but if they were to be investigated and the reason given was "to push the price of the stock up" well thats manipulation.
Wow, Bill, great job, I noticed the performance as well. I was wondering if it is still a buy here. How did u find out about it, and do you have any other picks? If you dont want to let that info out for fear of the price moving up, I understand.
Never said you werent allowed, just stated that underwriters arent allowed to lend out to short, therefore making very hard to come buy. Looks like Nysescalpa got a gift, wish i was that llucky, no dice at cybertrade.
As determined by the Securities and Exchange Commission, which is in charge of IPO regulation in the U.S., the underwriters of the IPO are not allowed to lend out shares for short sale for 30 days.
-Thats the rule. Market makers can short, though they may have to buy in, and clients may lend...
Underwriters are prohibited from lending their stock out for 30 days, I guess u got real lucky by having some retail client who got ipo stock lend u theirs
I appreciate the input fellas, will hold and not add. Merrill came out after their quartely update on Mon. and reiterated their buy recomendation. They said that some may have been disappointed as ADBE didnt raise theri guidance.
I bought the ADBE aug 30 calls day after earnings at 3.20 trading at 2, not really an options trader so advice would be appreciated. Would it make sense to buy more here, sell what I have or just hold to expiration? Thanx.
