    future firm protection

I wonder if the products leverage has something to do with the level of insurance that is provided? It seems to me, in this business only retail equity trading accounts are afforded govt. insurance. Prop traders, who receive 20+ times leverage put up risk money with no insurance. Futures...

    nyse hybrid system

I see stocks that have already gone hybrid are much harder to trade. I am seriously considering another line of work because I don't see how to adjust. I have tried trading Nasdaq, and to me it is practically impossible.

GM & F: Burn in Hell!

They will go bankrupt, but will not be liquidated. That doesn't seem to happen anymore in America. They will just screw the share/bond holders and sell new stock after a reorg. Look at the airlines. Buying airline or car co. stock long term is a fools play.

    nyse hybrid system

Yeah but NYSE now owns/manipulates ARCA, and the Nasdaq now owns Island. I think everyone missed my point...when the specialist is gone, that does not mean the specialist firms will be gone. They will use software to rape you instead. It's going to be just like Nasdaq. Not many traders make...

    nyse hybrid system

Yeah, it's great for hedgefunds. But for the pure discretionary trader, it's horrible.

    nyse hybrid system

IMO the NYSE going public was the worst thing that could happen. The specialist will be replaced by software, so there will be no benefit to traders. As a matter of fact, I saw a job ad that a specialist firm posted, seeking a Ph.D. programmer. The specifics were quite eye opening. They are...

Rate cuts with a rising equity market

The point I was trying to make was the dow reaching new highs is meaningless. It's comparing Apples and Oranges. You make a valid point, which bolsters my theory. The Nasdaq is full of the "new" tech companies, and it's still down 50% from it's highs, which is more like what is actually...

Rate cuts with a rising equity market

The indexes making new highs is irrelevant IMO. They keep replacing the index components with newer better performing stocks. If the dow was the same stocks it was in 2000, I bet it would be at 7000. Meanwhile, no one is getting raises, their health care and pensions are being eliminated...

    ARCA being manipulated by NYSE?

Dustin, Thanks! I didn't know that.

    ARCA being manipulated by NYSE?

Dustin, Cybertrader does have Direct+ access, but it's not a "real" option. You have to put in a limit order to the NYSE, and sometimes you get Direct+ instant execution, and sometimes it's a delayed fill. There doesn't seem to be a way to tag it for Direct+. That's why I usually go for the...

    ARCA being manipulated by NYSE?

Okay, I guess I will need to switch to a "real" broker where I can NX. Cybertrader just has NYSE and the ECN's. I need to step up my game. :D

    ARCA being manipulated by NYSE?

Hey Hydro! No I saw the news, but I'm just saying so much for ECN's being a real alternative. ARCA orders used to go through in a second even during fast markets. I really felt like I was dealing directly with the specialist today. What a bunch of BS.

    ARCA being manipulated by NYSE?

I've been noticing that ARCA fill time has been going steadily downhill for a while now, and this morning took the cake. I tried to buy UNH on a pullback, going into ARCA for 1000 shares. Granted the stock was very active, but at the time I placed my order there was a lull. It took almost 30...

HYBRID ....I can't see the difference...can you see the difference?

This whole hybrid thing is just beginning. I read something on the NYSE site about a pilot program next year involving NYSE, Nasdaq and AMEX stocks that has me much more concerned then this initial deployment. I have a feeling a couple of years from now NYSE will trade in a similar fashion to...

QuoteTracker Bought out by TD AMERITRADE! YIKES!

IMO, Quotetracker will probably remain available to everyone for a monthly fee, and become free for Ameritrade users. The days of the free version are probably coming to an end for sure.

    HLV, zorilla

Yeah Megadon is obviously associated with HLV, he's always hyping them it seems.

Not even the top of book for ARCA without paying

IMO Totalview is a complete waste of money. The volume you see is fake most of the time (huge bids disappear instantly) and reserve orders prevent you from seeing what is really there anyway.

Oil: I call short term bottom right here

WOW ~ I can't believe people are slamming Rearden for making accurate calls. That oil call was great, the first up day after eight days straight down. I have learned alot just from looking at the charts of some of the calls he has made. Anyone who has followed his calls has made BAGS of...
