    Switching to Linux from Win10

That's an unfair characterization. Just because Linux doesn't cost money doesn't mean it's for cheap or poor people. I'm an engineer and like most engineers I'd rather have more control over my tools and environment than less. Linux gives the most control to the power user. Windows probably...

    Switching to Linux from Win10

There isn't a "Windows version". There is the "official" Oracle JRE and the open source OpenJDK. On my Linux laptop TWS ran fine with OpenJDK but I was not able to run the Thinkorswim platform. I had to download the official Oracle Java runtime to get ToS running. I don't know if this has...

Can you suggest a good MT4 programmer ?

If you want a professional who will do good work you'll be paying $60/hour and up. If someone agrees to do the job for a fixed low price you'll just be throwing away $300 for a poor result. Check out freelancer.com. There are tons of mt4 developers there with good ratings that have done...

    RSS readers

Just curious why "besides feedly"? I really like feedly and have been using it for years for multiple news feeds. On my PC I use the web interface and on my smartphone I use the feedly app - very high quality app BTW. A similar alternative to feedly is "the old reader".

    Kim Jong-un on Twitter

Hah, made you look. But imagine how much fun that would be. He and POTUS could exchange barbs every day.

Cunningham Commodities charging commissions for option expiry?

Until I read OP's post I didn't know *any* broker did this. My limited knowledge includes IB, TOS and OX. Are these special options you're talking about? Maybe options on corn futures or the like?

Amazon rumor sends Bitcoin surging to record highs

Adding BTC doesn't make sense for Amazon. It would be a drop in the bucket compared with their total revenue and would just draw controversy. BTW you can already buy things on Amazon with BTC through purse.io.

    Iron Condor Best Instrument

Trading iron condors on anything except broad indexes is playing Russian Roulette. Inevitably the stock will gap past your max loss point and wipe out a year's worth of nickle gains. "Eats like a bird, shits like an elephant."

    Programming interviews

I keep reading that some high percentage (>50%) of job placements come from knowing someone on the inside. Amazingly I've never made a job move that way. It's always been through the front door based on my perceived merits. I must have just been lucky.

Why are my Graphics cards failing so often ?

You're right about normal usage. I was using it for parallel processing development which is definitely not normal can can make it run hot.

Why are my Graphics cards failing so often ?

Depending on how hard you're hitting the graphics card it may be overheating. I've run into issues where I upgraded the graphics card but the airflow in the main box was insufficient. The only way I could keep it safely cooled was to take off the side panel. In my case the GPU didn't outright...

    Programming interviews

I think OP may be referring to the dreaded "coding quiz", something I've endured before. These suck, are demeaning and aren't really useful. 37 years out of school, can you still code a bubble sort? Of course not. Nobody hand-codes sorts anymore (especially bubble sorts). You use Boost for...

If your realtime news was deliberatly delayed by more than 30 seconds

For once I actually agree with soes. I've seen delays in news feeds and it seemed damned suspicious to me. Luckily I don't trade news any more.

What's up with this "routine" threat from IB?

Actually I had already filled out the yearly non-pro questionnaire. This one was was a few months later.

What's up with this "routine" threat from IB?

I had a similar thing happen. I got an email out of the blue from IB notifying me that I had to answer the Non-Professional Questionnaire within 5 days or I'd lose my data access. The only thing I could think of is my trading volume increased to 200+ trades/year from like 10.

Interactive Brokers Announces Strategic Investment in Tiger Brokers

Somehow I don't think this is going to benefit North American traders in terms of platform improvements.

    Imgur links not showing up

I admit only marginally related but I really don't like posts with hot-linked media. I've gone to 10 year old posts and the links are dead because the hosting company is dead. If the pics had simply been uploaded they'd still be there.

Currency pairs prices from IB using Python API

GAT is right about getting the symbols right. The symbol naming convention in the IB API can be quite tricky.
