    valid ratio combos? IB or are all brokers the same?

    Don't get hung up about taking it off all at once. Take it off as a series of verticals. You'll get better fills that way since the market for verticals is more liquid. Select the closing verticals based on how much they affect the overall delta of the position.

    What's IB's policy regarding unauthorised activity?

    From a cryptographic standpoint they're equivalent and if either the secure card or smartphone are stolen your account is still theoretically safe since they don't know your username/password. Unless of course you've written your username/password on a piece of paper stored with the device...

    What's IB's policy regarding unauthorised activity?

    Yes 2FA enough. The security concept is "what you know and what you have". In other words, you *know* your username and password and you *have* your personal phone (or IB issued security device). Obviously your username/password can be leaked from a security breach or more likely you're...

    Reverse engineering a profitable C2 strategy

    That's like the cab driver "day traders" in the 90's. Every day call the broker to buy at open and sell at close. They must have felt like effing geniuses.

    231 Butterflies

    You're risking $5K to make maybe $1.5K. Yes the theoretical max gain is $3K but that's very unlikely. You *will* hit max loss sooner or later but will the winners make up for it? You don't know that yet.

    $CTL (Value Investing)

    Nonetheless the stock you picked has horrible EPS prospects. I guess I really don't like bottom fishing.

    The staggered butterflies

    We can't see from that screenshot when the flies were entered. My guess is he entered 1 fly, then another when market conditions changed. The result is a condor but he essentially legged into it when price action dictated.

    What About Linux?

    LibreOffice Calc is not a direct substitute for Excel. For basic spreadsheet stuff such as vanilla formulas they're equivalent. But if you're running fancy VB scripts then you're SOL.

    What About Linux?

    I'll reiterate a point I've made in other threads/forums about Windows vs Linux. If you want your PC to run 24/7 then get Linux. If you don't care about your PC automatically updating and rebooting in the middle of the night then use Windows - if that's what you're most comfortable with. So...

    C++ Backtesting to API

    In my case I've been using C++ on Linux in my various day jobs for the last 25 years or so. I readily agree that C++ is arcane and can be error prone. But for myself I can't see any reason to switch to something else. If I want to do something C++ is usually the fastest way for me. I've also...

    C++ Backtesting to API

    It means they're not adding features or fixing bugs on it anymore. Oanda did the same thing a few years ago: ditched their C++ API to devote full attention to their Java API. The fact is that the IB API 9.72 still works and will continue to work. I still use it myself and it works great.
