    A crude look at Crude

The future of crude is higher highs and higher lows. It's as certain as the law of supply and demand.

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

I've already posted this, but it bears repeating: http://www.iags.org/costofoil.html According to the above analysis, America's hidden costs are $3.28 per gallon of gas. Assuming a price of $3/gal at the pump, the real price of a gallon of gas is therefore $6.28, which is comparable to...

Significant Reduction in Petroleum / Gasoline Prices, HOW?

The statistics cited in the article are misleading (like most stats). "He said Opec has increased production by 4.5m barrels per day since ’02, ..." 2002 consumption was 77 Mbpd in 2002 and it's 85 Mbpd in 2006. That's 8 Mbpd increased demand since 2002. OPEC has supplied 4.5 Mbpd. How...

Im bored so let's talk Stock Picks

I like BAS. This company recently went public and is in the same industry as HAL (Oil & Gas Equipment & Services). Fundamentals look cheap and technicals look strong. Wait for the conference call on Weds. I'd worry about AIRT due to rising fuel costs. I'd worry about HRB due to Spitzer.

The Single-Family Home Tax Shelter Myth

I deferred toward the consensus by lowering the figure from $5k to $2.5k. As I recall, you lobbied for $2k, so what's your problem? You have a hard time letting go of the past. Must be an old timer thing.

The Single-Family Home Tax Shelter Myth

Time for an update. I've revised my model to [hopefully] address the criticisms posted here. The results will be posted below. Upkeep costs: I originally used $5k/yr based on an article that cited an example of a house bought in 1968 that had since required 3.7 times the original cost to...

    The 'Forever Stamp'

Good technical points. Probably lost on the average citizen or prospective black marketeer. Agreed. I suspect there would still be a run every time the price of the 1st-class stamp increased.
