Is there a problem with IB's time and sales?

IB doesn't have T&S data via API... QT is pulling it from another source (please correct me if I'm mistaken).

How to filter out trending stocks in mean reversion strategy

Look... Cointegration is an econometric relationship. I tried a similar data mining exercise using indicator/log return relations without success. Too many significant "effects" simply disappear as I moved the observation window closer to real-time. Price series are a nonstationary unit...

How to filter out trending stocks in mean reversion strategy

Of course, prices rarely revert to their mean because price series is nonstationary. Cointegrated series (by definition) must revert to the price of an index or another security. But that's pairs trading (different topic)...

How to filter out trending stocks in mean reversion strategy

You would run your mean reversion system over the detrended series. Attached is an example chart, except here I divided price by the centered SMA, instead of subtracting.

How to filter out trending stocks in mean reversion strategy

Detrending means removing the drift (subtracting the centered average): PriceClose *minus* SMA(Period/2) The output is a highly mean reverting series.

    Determining Shares Short

Does anyone here trade the short squeeze with success? It makes sense in theory, but short interest is a specious ratio considering exchange members know the % of float short before "we" do, and they could skew the average volume. I was thinking that a better way to find squeeze candidates...

    Level 2 reading

I have found that investigating the book in real-time is phenomenally fruitful to understanding traders behavior before price moves occur. You could look at static properties such as the distribution of limit prices, distribution of volatility, cancel/replace frequency, frequency of price...

If this is any indication of the IBIPO

The IBIPO auction for Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. has been completed. The offering price has been set at $30.01 and 40,000,000 total shares are being offered. All auction participants with valid bids at or above the offering price will receive shares. Because your bid was below the...

wall street corruption at its finest

WSJ reported News Corp's offer was made in a letter at the DJ April 18 shareholder meeting. http://online.wsj.com/article_print/SB117806207443788817.html This thread is nothing but malicious envy of those who profit by knowing what they are doing.

simple question about spreads and price

At market orders are different than limit orders. When both are out of sync, that usually indicates a reversal point in price movement (at market traders hitting the bids/taking the asks).

Automating Trading Strategies in Todays Markets

Maybe max drawdown is significant psychologically, but not statistically. It's only one outcome, and not very probable that the same drawdown will occur in future trading because drawdown depends on the order of trades! One way of proving this is to run a MC simulation, taking trades in a...
