Who Gets News Alerts First? And How

I don't bother trying to catch the news. Even if I get news before everyone else I wouldn't know how to discern how it will affect the stock. Best leave it to the professionals.

    Margin Account?

Apparently, they allow me to do just that and there is no settlement delays which is why a cash account looks more attractive to me. Their short list is crap I tried shorting 10 companies and none of them were allowed. I think unless it's big companies like appl I'll have a hard time finding any...

    Broker is Messing with me.

Never heard of them before. My biggest question of course would be are they legit? Reading the rules it says they only give commission free to $1 or above limit orders and limit orders must not create an immediate match? It seems too good to be true.

    Margin Account?

I don't see how it's better. With cash I can trade without waiting for it to be settled. With margin it takes several hours. The only difference is shorting and since this particular broker has no stocks to short anyways I ain't losing out on anything.

    Margin Account?

Weird I tried to short a number of stocks & all of them got rejected. Also, I had $400 in my account and it allowed me to make one trade of $1000. After that, my balance became $350 and it won't allow me to borrow anymore no matter what the amount. Not even $50. Don't understand how that works...

    Margin Account?

So if I sell the stock before the settlement date that means I am not gonna be charged interest? Or if that's not correct then what is the day they'll start charging the interest cuz sometimes I hold my stocks overnight.

    Margin Account?

How much can I borrow and how are the interest rate charged? It say's 4.75% U.S per annum basis. I am not sure what that means. If I bought a stock and sold it at the same day will I'll still be charged 4.75%? How do daytraders even make money trading with margin if it was 4.75%?

The biggest mistake I've ever made in trading.

Been trading for less than 3 months but my biggest mistake imo is trading without a margin account. (Cannot short positions.) I see a ton of short opportunities everyday but very few long opportunities that would continue to rally by the time I spot them and due to impatience and having no other...

    Broker is Messing with me.

I realize they won't take pity on me for my unawareness that's ok. (They also didn't make me aware of it at the time of account opening so that's their fault.) They wanna scam me a one-time $400 off me when I was already paying thousands of dollars on commissions each month. (I make 100+ trades...

    Broker is Messing with me.

Not that much or I would've noticed much sooner. Basically I am losing about 5% on every trade minus the commissions after taking a look at my trade history and doing some math. I made about 5-6 of these transactions before realizing the hidden conversion costs and loss around $400 extra on a...

    Broker is Messing with me.

I am using Canadian money to trade Us stocks. I should've converted to US first so now it converts when I buy then reverts back to Cad when I sell. Costly mistake.

    Broker is Messing with me.

I've a Canadian bank account to trade U.S stocks. Just the last 3-4 trades I noticed something wasn't right.. Here is just 2 examples.. Both of these I made a small gain but ended breaking even or taking a hefty loss. My commissions fees are only $10 so it doesn't add up. Buy SPU 80.00...

Best "trading psychology" book you have ever read?

Nah, I don't think it was that book since it was published in 2013 while the book I read was over 15 years. Perhaps, they might share the same concepts but I will pass on reading. Too much psychology can be a pain in the ass.

    What makes Successful Traders?

I don't know how you got that figure but if that was true for you then you must really hate your gut. Seems like I could be wrong thou. Automation systems without any intuition may still be successful. Haven't tried it yet myself so I wouldn't know.

    What makes Successful Traders?

If you can prove it it wouldn't be called instinct.

Can day trading become an addiction since it is so similar to gambling?

There is a huge difference. Money won from gambling feels underserved which leads to reckless spending or blowing it all afterwards.

    What makes Successful Traders?

I disagree, a lot of trading has to do with intuition esp daytrading. If you trade without it your better off buying lottery tickets.

Best "trading psychology" book you have ever read?

I remember reading a book like 20 years ago. I only read like half a page but it said that the only thing you needed to do to make a winning trade was feel confident at that time you executed the trade. Nothing else matters. Sounds like law of attraction or blind faith but it was a memorable one...

I'm losing money and can't stop. How do you be patient?

That sounds like me. I get impatient waiting for the next stock and start overtrading. I learned not to do that after I realize all my gains from timely good trades started diminishing from speculative overtrades. If I trade it's gotta be a stock that I feel has a very good chance of gaining...
