    Nyse Opening Print

The TAQ database is great but not affordable for individuals. It is about $500 per month (for the web edition), which is a bit too much just to look up some opening prices. Any other suggestions ? Oliver

    Nyse Opening Print

I'm trying to look up historical opening prices for NYSE. Yahoo Finance and all other finance sites that I know, do not always have the NYSE open print as their open price. Sometimes, if a stock trades on an ECN first, Yahoo will take that price as the opening price. Does anyone know of a...

    Contra - Don's Opening's

I agree with your reasoning but I think the key issue is your time frame. I prefer to be on the specialist's side in the first 10 -15 minutes of the trading day. Thereafter, it could well be that the buyers/sellers that came in with the big opening orders creating imbalances come back and...

    Redi+ for European exchanges

The new Tibco version of Redi Plus (the SLK trading platform) has the ability to trade on European stock exchanges. Has anyone tried to do so ? I would love to hear about the speed and functionality of the platform, in particular in comparison to RealTick. Oliver

Does anyone know whether any of the european stock markets have an opening quote like the NYSE ? I heard that the Paris bourse has a similar system, but would like to hear any experiences from traders trading an opening only order startegy on other markets than NYSE. Oliver

    Anyone else get UAL buy-in?

I trade through SLK. No borrow there either. But you can buy bullets, and roll it over everyday in the hope that you won't get bought in. I have received several buy-in notifications, but so far they could locate stock in time so that the buy-ins were not executed.

    Jeff Cooper off RealMoney

i didn't renew my RM subscription either. i'm sick of them. All the value is packaged into separate subcription. I'd rather read the WSJ or Barrons for that price.

    Historical data for delisted companies

I found the data for Nasdaq on their own site, although a bit burried.... check http://www.nasdaqtrader.com/asp/dl_search.asp Use the day range search for all deletions or additions. You can click on the results to get the history of that ticker. That way, you can also reconstruct ticker...

    Does low-noise system exist?

I just rebuild my system in order to make it more quiet. My first attempt this February was not really successful, as the CPU fan (1.6Ghz P4) was spinning at 4000rpm when I was running all my application. It is pretty easy to design a system that is quiet when the computer runs only at 5% of...

    MOC order reliability?

You can get them from Dow Jones Newswire or through some trading platforms, such as Redi Plus. By the way, MOC orders for short sales will NOT always be honored. Most frequent explanation by the specialist will be "There was stock ahead" meaning that people who sell an existing long position...

    Firms stealing strategies....

It doesn't concern us small traders, but I have read in an academic article (either from Harold Bradley "Views of an Informed Trader" (AIMR Conference Proceedings 2002, No 5), or Ritter, "review of IPO Activity", J of Finance 2002 - not sure though) that some investors (more likely to be hedge...
